And yes, that in and of itself isn't collusion, but if a law enforcement official sees evidence that someone is attempting to engage in wrongdoing, shouldn't investigators investigate? Or should the investigators simply take the would-be colluder's word that he's never done anything wrong, even when that word was given in a tissue of lies written on Air Force One? You and Trump plainly think the latter is sufficient to let things slide. I'm glad the Department of Justice does not.
Let things slide?!? Clinton had classified information stored on a server stored in a bathroom of some second class ISP in Colorado. If you want to talk about letting things slide let's talk about something worth talking about. Don Jr talked with a Russian... OK, I talk with Russians all the time. Maybe the FBI/DoJ got a "rubber stamped" court order to listen to my phone calls? (Of course, in all my business meetings we encrypt everything point-to-point with some rather strong stuff so good luck FBI!)

They have investigated Don Jr... they didn't find any collusion. In fact, they didn't find any evidence that the russians "rigged" the election. If anyone influenced the election it was the dems for being dumb enough to think they could screw Bernie Sanders in the primaries and no one would notice. Actually a lot of people noticed just what kind of party the dems run. Let the actual election tampering slide.

I think the DoJ has way too much power since the so called "Patriot Act". Not to mention the NSA spying and collecting data on everyone. ("But, but, but it is only meta data." Give me a break.) That power needs to be reigned in. What do you think is going to happen when Drumpf replaces all the people in the FBI/DoJ with his people and the dumbass FISA court is still "rubber stamping" everything that comes from them? Are the dems so dumb they think that sh*t will never happen to them?

Uh, yeah. Just ask Harry “nuclear option” Reid.

Official US policy has been tough on Russia in several respects since Trump has been in office. But then in contrast you have Trump personally saying and in some cases doing things that directly contradict that. It's been an interesting contrast to watch as it seems Congress for sure and almost everyone working for him in the administration are not pro-Russia like he seems to be personally. The affinity for Putin is one of the only things he seems to get less than enthusiastic cheering for at his rallies. It's not really a politically winning strategy. Most of his supporters don't really agree with it, or at the very least it's not a hot button issue for them like immigration or some other things. That makes it an interesting question as to why he says publicly what he says about Putin and Russia.

Even for a president like Trump it's not that easy to change official policy when he basically has few if any allies who disagree with that policy. It seems a little illogical to use that as proof that he wants to be tough on Russia because then you're having to also say he didn't really mean the dozens of pro-Putin things he has said. Those things are on tape. It's not like he hasn't said them, and there isn't really any political advantage to himself to say pro-Putin things. Everything else he says is for gaining political advantage, so why the exception on this one thing? Then at the post-summit press conference Putin flat out answered "yes" when asked if he wanted Trump to win.

Tapper is a pretty good, balanced reporter, and that 24-second snippet acknowledges that Trump has done some things that are tough toward Russia. But before and after that excerpt (which occurs around the eight-minute mark of the broadcast) one sees how Trump has gone back and forth on Russia (as BlueK, notes above) which no one can explain or understand. But Trump and his acolytes/bots cherry-pick only the stuff they like and avoid nuance as if it were plutonium.

But, but, but Nancy Pelosi said...

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi said on Saturday that "these documents provide clear evidence of 'Russia's coordination with Carter Page,' a high-ranking Trump campaign official, 'to undermine and improperly and illegally influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election.'"

                    • Not sure if we're talking the D&C or Newtonian Laws of Motion, but I do know this:

There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all Uncle Ted political posts are predicated, that for every Trump criticism there will be an equal and opposite rip on a Democrat.

BTW, having never been a Democrat, I wouldn't mind this except for the apparent failure to see Trump for the ill-bred, illiterate, historically ignorant, self-aggrandizing narcissist that he is.

Just keeping it balanced around here.... Both GOP'ers and Dems suck. If you could measure the suckiness of each they would be about ±1 PSI of each other.

I agree wholeheartedly with your description of Trump. Yet I still see wisdom in that which Uncle Ted posts. Can't both be true?

Ted, even the socialists on the site know this. It's not news. If all of us on CS make a solemn vow that yes, both parties suck, would that help?
