I believe the truth is in between. I don't find it outlandish that some poor Haitian immigrants sought out, what is for them a normal food source, when they got hungry. Haitians aren't the only ethnic group that sees dogs and cats as a food source.

Several countries in Southeast Asia, South Pacific, Philipines, China, several African countries. All send immigrants the USA. I know of instances of it happening in Utah related to Filipino immigrants that were close to my brother who served his mission in the Philipines in the. mid-seventies. Yes, my bro consumed dog occasionally when he was there. This sort of thing happens whethere you or not you can comprehend it. When people are hungry occasionally they resort to alternate foods that can be sourced close to home.Originally posted by frank ryan View PostExactly what groups in the US view cats and dogs as sources of food?
Were the Donner Party immigrants? Cause they viewed humans as a food source.

Hasn’t the GOP tried passing a CR that would continue SNAP benefits but the Dems are voting against it?Originally posted by frank ryan View PostTrump trying so hard to suspend food stamps is gross. Celebrating the suffering of others is not cool.

I don't believe there has been a vote on it. Hawley is one who has actually been calling for it, which is good.Originally posted by Moliere View Post

The democrats think that the healthcare premiums/ACA subsidies will be the bigger leverage point. People won't start logging in to see the new premiums today, 11/1.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I think that's correct, but not having a vote doens't really change it since they'd be having a vote and passing the CR if the Dems would agree to it. But the Dems won't as they think they have leverage. I'm starting to think they are going to lose on this one, pretty big, since a clean CR seems absolutely reasonable in this instance, given the previous discussion on how the premium subsidies were always meant to be temporary.Originally posted by falafel View Post

So temporary only means temporary when it's a benefit to the poor? I didn't hear a lot of concern from the GOP about how temporary things shouldn't be made permanent this summer.Originally posted by Moliere View Post
