I edited and put in an article. It does look like it was real. That is pretty sus. I think you'd have to be stubborn to think Musk won't or hasn't used twitter for political fuckery. The constitution wasn't built to accomodate a role for someone like Musk.

I've mention confirmation bias and the illusion of truth quite a bit in these threads but I also think he have a lot of normalcy bias. No one has been this dictatorial or awful so no one will be. That won't hold up. I think seeing Trump or MAGA as anything close to normal is the core of the problem.

Musk's behaviors and character don't merit reflexively safeguarding at this point and Trump's never did. The country - even the disproportionately reviled (when you compared to the right -wing and brosphere podcast world) mainstream media did a disservice by scrambling to make sense of Trump's bullshit.

    • So Trump wants to legalize execution for illegal immigrants who rob people? Even if it would be unlikely to happen? Please guys don't call Trump racist through.

Let's give the Statue of Liberty back to France.

      • You gotta love the CiC's new official portrait. Pretty sure that means I'll get a copy through DISTRO to hang on our wall in the office.

I imagine him to be saying, "Go ahead punk! Make my day!" Bout time we had a CiC to put the fear of God in our foes.

I think it's our allies who are afraid. They've suspended military aid, because screw treaties and diplomacy.

bluecougar1985 over on CB would have you believe otherwise. Trump could be caught with a 16 year old in bed and somehow bluecougar1985 would defend him.

              • Doctors and Green Monster, is this correct word usage, "large reproductive cell" and "small reproductive cell?" And folks are opining that technically we are all female at conception, and then some of us transition to male some weeks later?

                Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I think the key quote is "Most people I interacted with".

I have read enough of bluecougar's posts to expect that the folks he interacts with are EXACTLY the type of people who feel very strongly that it should be McKinley

                  • Hilarious how some who supported Trump but say they're not maga are somehow surprised that he pardoned even the violent Jan 6 rioters. Duh, of course he did.

It's always entertaining to watch Trump's sycophants fall into line after initially opposing or contradicting him. Vance will be a particularly rich source of amusement. A week ago Sunday Vance said that obviously Trump wouldn't pardon violent Jan. 6 protestors and that it would be wrong to do so. Eight days later Trump did just that. Now, the guy who Trump said was "kissing my ass for my support" will need to pucker up and, yet again, reverse course. Look for pallets of Blistex being brought into the White House in the coming months.

                      • I'm really starting to wonder if Trump knows the difference between a commutation and a pardon, or if he really is being this sloppy and absurd issuing pardons like this. For comparison sake, while Biden had 8K+ of people granted clemency, about 100 of them were actual pardons.

While I may not agree with it, I get the argument that Ross Ulbricht's sentence of 2 life sentences plus 40 years as overly harsh. If you are going to commute his sentence go for it. However, there is no way in hell that monster deserves a pardon. Even the people pushing for clemency for him were asking for his sentence to be commuted. It is disgusting that he is now walking around as not just a free man, but a man without a conviction.

The 1500 pardons for the J6 defendants is effing unprecedented. I'd challenge anyone to find that level of pardons at anytime. I have seen mass commuting of sentences, but nothing near 1500+ pardons. The pardons included the Q'Anon Shaman, who if you read his own affidavit supporting his plea did some pretty awful stuff. His response to his pardon was he is going to "buy some motha fuckin’ guns." Sorry, I don't feel better knowing that he now gets some guns.

The commutations to time served included Stewart Rhodes and his disgusting Oath Keeper terrorist minions. Any regrets, Stew? "My only regret is that they should have brought rifles... We should have brought rifles. We could have fixed it right then and there. I'd hang fucking Pelosi from the lamppost." From Kelly Meggs (also commuted): "I’m gonna go on a killing spree... Pelosi first."

These pardons of the worst offenders on Jan 6 show that the violence is exactly what Trump wanted. By the grace of God we didn't see something ten times more horrifying with dozens of members of Congress killed and a real Constitutional crisis.
