President Trump: Making America Great Again...

One thing to keep an eye on is how the traditional GOP foreign policy and defense hawks move in the coming months. These have been among the most never Trump factions but there has been a lot of criticisms coming from them regarding what they view as the Biden admin's reckless foreign policy moves. It wouldn't surprise me to see many engage in hopes of influencing policies in a Trump administration. But this same group of people have made terrible foreign policy decisions themselves in the past.

I don't have a lot of time respect for Bolton or other engineers of the Iraq war, but isolationism is very scary, especially. But Bolton was more sane than Trump during his time in the administration.
Russia has issues white papers indicating their strategies have involved and will continue involved pushing and supporting isolationist candidates in the US.
We live in a global community and the ascendency of Russian and Chinese imperialism will impact us negatively.

I agree. These NatCons and "antiwar" types point to Iraq and then try to use it to justify some form of Sakoku. But a world with American hegemony is a much more prosperous world than the alternative and much more beneficial for the lower and middle classes of America.Originally posted by frank ryan View Post

I really could never respect that rationality of the hardcore anti war crowd. I can respect their ethical stands but the Green Party wants to create a party of peace wtf!Originally posted by USUC View Post

I was reading in Alma 2 this morning
about how Amlici was a popular dude in Zarahemla and convinced a large minority of the population to vote him in as King. I imagine him to have promised to Make Zarahemla Great Again. Then when he lost (FAKE NEWS!) they took up arms to put him in office.
Now I know this is nothing like Trump, because he's basically a modern day Captain Moroni, and Moroni was TICKED at the MZGA crowd--so much so that he executed all of them that wouldn't recant.

Do you believe he won the election fairly in 2016?Originally posted by frank ryan View PostI think Trump will win (not fairly, he does not do anything in his life that way) and right before and after the election there an increase in Russian/Chinese/Nk/Middle East military aggression. Sounds like some kind of fever dream.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I believe he was legitimately elected. I absolutely think foreign influence came into play. IMO, it's naive to believe otherwise. Even if Trump didn't welcome the help(which he did, remember him asking Russia to find Hillary's email, and emphasizing later that it was not a joke?) the interference was there, and in a more profound and newer way then any first world nation has previously experienced. Neither our adversaries nor Trump are honorable by default. That's been taught to us by consistent past behaviors. Trump is now convicted of felonies. His past is riddled with evidence of fraud, rape, wage theft, discrimination, graft and organized criminal ties.Originally posted by Moliere View Post

Some of the foreign influence was absolutely legal. But with all that said, Trump didn't force pro-kremlin dipship Jill Stein to play spoiler in some battleground states. No one made James Comey happily announce some shit about Hillary being under some tired investigation or the moral shell of a man that is Jason Chaffetz blurt it out on social media like a jr high girl. That was probably the deciding point
Julian Assange, Russian hackers and Roger Stone did coordinate to weaponize and deploy information to impact the election. That's why Assange was booted from the Ecuadorian embassy by a leader who not be called Pro-American. That doesn't directly indict Trump but it aint cool.
No one paid Obama to be passive and wimpy about responding to Russian infowarfare because Mitch McConnell threatened to be whiny baby if the president had reported the horseshittery.
There have been elections throughout our history where shenanigans came in to play; legal, quasi-legal, and illegal, but I still think of those results as legitimate, even if not completely "fair." Nixon sabotaged peace talks with Vietnam to position himself better for an election victory. I haven't seen this confirmed but its speculated Reagan encouraged the Iranians to delay releasing the American hostages as part of cloak and dagger arms deals. Jim Crowe laws weren't fair but were legal until the courts scuttled them. But I'm not contending the winners weren't the winners.
I didn't see anything that indicated that Hillary should have been the winner.
Trump did win, Hillary did not. It was not stolen. I've never clamored to have him replaced by Hillary.
With all that said, I do think he has become increasingly unrestrained and unbalanced as times go on. I have no doubt that this time he would criminally cheat if he thought it work to get him in power. Once in power, which I think will happen, he will go on and do everything to increase his powers and behave as dictatorially as he can. He is a fascist. Laugh if you want, but I worried about his attempting a coup and got mocked for it. Trump is all about power. He's not a conservative. There were times where he was chummy with Hillary Clinton and endorsed her. But he wasn't liberal. Being conservative or liberal requires a moral framework. He is power obsessed. He is amoral. His real genius is programming his adherents to view any criticism as biased persecution of him because he's such a maverick, when in reality he is far more corrupt than any of his recent predecessors. I've read some books about those times but can't remember the titles, but Trump was reminded to be or asked if was pro-life by Bannon or one his henchmen. Trump responded that he absolutely is pro-life and supports a woman's right have control over her body. He didn't know what it meant.
I have a question for you; do you believe it would make sense for someone to vote for Trump and feel like it was an easy call? A decision to be proud of? I'm talking about the kind of feeling that the campaigns of Obama, Reagan, Kennedy etc brought out amongst their supporters.

I know plenty of people that think voting for Trump is an easy call and they are proud of it. I don’t think that but they do. They are also sane, rational people I pretty much every aspect of their lives…other than politics (IMO).Originally posted by frank ryan View Post

What about foreign influence coming into play in the 2020 election? Do you still believe that Hunter Biden's laptop was "Russian disinformation"?Originally posted by frank ryan View Post

That is so true. I have some family members and a couple of dear friends who are great people but seem almost entranced by Trump. I just avoid talking about politics or look for common ground. I always just plain stay off of social media.Originally posted by Moliere View Post

Trump is a cult of personality. Obama was the same thing but thankfully Obama stayed within the rules and precedent and mostly tried to follow the Constitution. But Obama, wiht his popularity and blind following, could have easily gone down the path that Trump is going down and probably had the same following and impact.Originally posted by frank ryan View Post
