Obviously a long shot, but it may be his best chance to get out of this.
That would excuse lying to investigators, conspiring, defiance of subpoenas?

And he is not a president. He is an EX-president.

    • It should be clear now that a large portion of the GOP are the biggest snowflakes around. For all the complaints about excessive political correctness tacit and implied threats of violence are the responses to holding a grossly corrupt individual accountable.

Kind of always been the case. Talk of 'loading the muskets' every time an election doesn't go their way. Oh, the delusion.

"Loading the muskets"? LOL. Who the heck uses muskets these days? Delusional indeed.

lol 'election interference.' Maybe if he didn't have such a boner for being a dictator he could focus on not going to prison.

                  • I was just watching CNN and the GOP is full-on deluded regarding the Trump charges. As in full-on election denial deluded. Jim Jordan was just on with one of their anchors spewing absolute nonsense and trying to talk circles around the anchor rather than answer any of her questions. He's rattling off SCOTUS decisions that supposedly allow Trump to declassify things at will. Then when the reporter pointed out that Trump commented on tape that he 'could have declassified it when he was president but now he can't' Jim Jordan's reply was that just because he said he could have when he was president doesn't mean he DIDN'T declassify it when he was president. Sure, Jim. Everybody talks in hypotheticals about things they have already done.

If Chris Christy got the nomination and then just purged maga during his run, that would be the best outcome for the country overall, probably. Sucks that it's come to this. We're right on the verge of unapologetic fascism.

                    • Defending Trump always, ALWAYS returns to bite you in the ass. So why do people continue to do it?

Interviews with seven Trump advisers with knowledge of the probe indicate he misled his own advisers, telling them the boxes contained only newspaper clippings and clothes. He repeatedly refused to give the documents back, even when some of his longest-serving advisers warned of peril and some flew to Mar-a-Lago to beg him to return them.

I'm looking at you, Graham and Rubio. And a whole host of ostensibly serious politicians.

To be fair to Jim Jordan, although he's chairman of the Judiciary Committee, he's not a lawyer.

Don't worry-- they are all queued up just like Jim Jordan to repeat the current talking points du jour: 1. He telekinetically declassified those documents before his term ended. 2. He is being charged under the wrong statute bc what he's being charged with is just for spies and traitors, and isn't for sitting presidents (ok legal experts- never mind that he wasn't a sitting president and that other actual government agents have been recently tried and convicted of this same thing).

This nonsense will be laughed out of a courtroom setting of course, but he's playing hard to his base in hopes that they show up more than in 2020-- highly unlikely. Jan 6 turned off a lot more of his former supporters than he is probably aware.

Yeah, I think Biden wins easily. Or anyone the Donkeys put out there. Bookmark it!

The irony here is that Biden is fairly moderate, and they could get away with a candidate further Left.

I still think Trump suppressed his own base by undermining confidence in mail-in voting, and that was the difference in the election. And that in and of itself is the most delicious irony of all.

I don’t think so. Didn’t you see BFM’s post where he ranks RFK Jr and someone named Asa hutchington more acceptable than Biden? He’s the most liberal man ever!

I've definitely moved more to the left the older I've gotten, and that dude is so old, I think understand it now.
