Wuap’s just trying to bury his really, really low IQ posts on taxes...Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostI hope this isn't seen as a good career move by Trump (and I really hope he recovers, honest). Meanwhile, wuap has been en fuego on FB, including observations like "He has the major risk factors: obese, old and low-income;" "I like Presidents who don't get infected;" "If he hadn't been tested, that'd be one fewer case," and a few more.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Im curious of the legal precedent here (is there one?) What happens if a candidate dies before the election and after official nomination? Can the running mate just be elevated to the top spot automatically or is the party out of luck? Related but not relevant question: what happens if a president-elect dies before inauguration?

I think the most surprising news coming out of this is that Trump has it-- and so does the First Lady. Which means they may have had something resembling actual physical proximity in the last month. I didn't think they had that kind of relationship.τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατέλλοντα πλείονες ἢ δυόμενον προσκυνοῦσιν

Perhaps they both caught it from a common vector, and not from one another.Originally posted by All-American View PostI think the most surprising news coming out of this is that Trump has it-- and so does the First Lady. The leadership of the party decides. The rules for how to choose another nominee should be in the bylawsOriginally posted by Omaha 680 View PostIm curious of the legal precedent here (is there one?) And they automatically replace the dead candidate on the ballot? What if a state deadline has passed? Does a vote for a dead candidate on a states ballot automatically get counted for the replacement nominee? And what happens to the early votes cast for the dead candidate?Originally posted by BlueK View PostThe leadership of the party decides. I see a bunch of people on social media celebrating and hoping this kills him. I genuinely think that is 1) an indication that you are a terrible person, but also 2) a Trump death would make him a martyr and his bullshit will be immortalized by his supporters for ever. I'm praying he sticks around to see his embarrassing thrashing on election day.

The votes go to the dead candidate. That doesn't really matter. I'm sure each state has a way of assigning the electors appropriately based on who the party wants to replace them with.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostAnd they automatically replace the dead candidate on the ballot? I'm sure there would be a circus and lots of legal wrangling, but certainly less than having Trump involved.

I too want him to experience a loss. But the coronavirus claiming his life shortly thereafter would be somewhat poetic.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostPlease please don’t die. I want him to be voted out. The nutjobs would claim he was poisoned. It would be chaos.Ha!Originally posted by smokymountainrain View Posta little too ironic, i really do think.
