You of all people should know this is true. Look at what government loans (which are now just government handouts) and grants have done to the cost of education. It increased the demand without doing anything really about increasing the supply. Giving $25,000 for down payments will do the same for homes.

The same is true for food. The Dems with their green new deal want to turn farmlands into giant solar farms which will decrease the domestic food supply. Not to mention they want to drive the cost of farming through the roof (e.g., energy costs). The Dems solution: price controls. Dumb.

I am sure this depends on the market as well. Government regulation on public lands I am sure drives up the costs of homes significantly. For example, the lack of land to build on here in North Utah I am sure has a lot to do with the cost of building a new home.

No. In places where land is scarce it could be much higher than 40%. Besides that data is 4 years old. In all of Utah the price for undeveloped acre of land increased 12% in just 2023:

Exactly. They are there so we and our cats don't die in burning infernos, or our kids don't suffer from chemicals in their air or water, or at least stuff works when you plug it into the wall. I finished a basement this past year.
