"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Some of the people who post here do so so because they care about their country.

Totally agree. I would venture to say all the people who post here do so because they care about their country. I also believe those who don't post here care about their country.

                  • I was contrasting Justin Trudeau's claim that "Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith," with the unfortunate coincidence that hours after he said this, a white French-Canadian shot up a mosque.

Canadians are getting way too smug for my tastes.

It would seem that you fall more on the side of people should keep quiet even if they disagree with the government. Maybe that's a generational thing. I might feel that way more if I could remember the hippie era.

It is pretty scary to think that Trump intends for the former CEO of a conspiracy-theory based "news" blog to be his main national security advisor, while the military and CIA are pushed out of the room.

No, I guess I could have given off that vibe, but I have complained about the government a lot. AS it got bigger and bigger I complained about it more and more.

Maybe my memory is bad, but those who have leadership positions seem to be a lot more interested in tearing down the opposition and doing it through character assination. I remember even during MLK's time and Viet Nam there were both moderate democrats and moderate republicans. Tip O'Neill and Ronald Reagan had different visions, but they didn't go after each others character.

I blame some of it on the press and their claim the public needs to know. They didn't tell us about JFK and his womanizing. He is still an idol, even to the democrat women and I don't know what purpose it would have served had the press let us know about his womanizing. He might have stole the election but Nixon didn't want to tear the country appart with a big investigation.

It's just different, but no I think the government gets out of control. I think criticizm of Trump is certainly fair. He does have character flaws but I wish we (Americans) could stick to arguing about the policies instead of having to put also some character assination along with it.

Someone tells me my opinion is wrong because............, but if they add it is wrong because I am a fool, I don't think too much about the other guys opinion.

I am not guiltless in the below the belt retorts I realize.

I found that ironic, and sad.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

Not a single story on Drudge today about the shootings in Quebec. Interesting. Maybe it's not the type of news they care to cover. Maybe I'm just being cynical, but I'm relatively sure they'd be all over the story if the suspect were an Islamic terrorist. I understand why more mainstream sources for news are criticized, but that doesn't mean the "alternatives" give any better information. You have to be at least as skeptical of "alternative" sources that exist to only tell one side of a story.
