Yes. Acted like an adult. Very rare in politics these days.

Ha. Yeah, I was going to say something about how he acted how a normal person should.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

      • I'll take Crenshaw over Maher any day. But before we nominate him as the only adult in the room, we should also fact check his answers:

        https://www.washingtonpost.com/polit...virus-defense/

He's a partisan politician. I don't expect much else from him. And sure, he's an adult.

I voted for him since I live in his district. I like him. I don't always agree with him but he's not a guy to toe the party line because he's expected to, he toes it if it fits into his political beliefs. He's a conservative, but he has a pragmatic streak in him. I remember during the GOP primary (which is basically the real election in that district) his main opponent attacked him for being a conservative that supports gay rights. Oddly, Crenshaw not only didn't back away from his support but defended it, which I find admirable in a district where that could have caused issues...at least at the time.

Also, his motto for this election was something like "Texan, Conservative, Patriot". One day, while driving my daughter home from a soccer game I passed one of his election signs and someone had replaced "Patriot" with the word "Pirate". I still can't see him and not think of that sign.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

              • Where's Commando?!?

Trump's threat of total immigration ban ignites outrage, confusion

President Donald Trump’s announcement on Twitter that his administration would temporarily stop immigration into the U.S. amid the pandemic ignited both confusion and outrage Tuesday as the true consequences of the order remained unclear and advocacy groups feared yet another crackdown on vulnerable immigrants.

“In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States!” Trump tweeted late Monday night.

                  • Oh gee, another impeachable offense:

The doctor who led the federal agency involved in developing a coronavirus vaccine said on Wednesday that he was removed from his post after he pressed for a rigorous vetting of a coronavirus treatment embraced by President Trump. The doctor said that science, not “politics and cronyism” must lead the way.

Dr. Rick Bright was abruptly dismissed this week as the director of the Department of Health and Human Services’ Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, or BARDA, and as the deputy assistant secretary for preparedness and response.

Instead, he was given a narrower job at the National Institutes of Health. “I believe this transfer was in response to my insistence that the government invest the billions of dollars allocated by Congress to address the Covid-19 pandemic into safe and scientifically vetted solutions, and not in drugs, vaccines and other technologies that lack scientific merit,” he said in a statement to The Times’s Maggie Haberman...Dr. Bright, who noted that his entire career had been spent in vaccine development both in and outside of government, has led BARDA since 2016.

In the statement, he said: “My professional background has prepared me for a moment like this — to confront and defeat a deadly virus that threatens Americans and people around the globe. To this point, I have led the government’s efforts to invest in the best science available to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Unfortunately, this resulted in clashes with H.H.S. political leadership, including criticism for my proactive efforts to invest early into vaccines and supplies critical to saving American lives. I also resisted efforts to fund potentially dangerous drugs promoted by those with political connections,” he said.

Dr. Bright, who is a career official and not a political appointee, pointed specifically to the initial efforts to make chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine widely available before it was scientifically tested for efficacy with the coronavirus.

                    • Ha, the joke's on you, Governor.

Trump approved of Georgia’s reopen plan before bashing it

President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence repeatedly told Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp that they approved of his aggressive plan to allow businesses to reopen, just a day before Trump pulled an about-face and publicly bashed the plan, according to two administration officials.

The green light from Pence and Trump came in separate private conversations with the Republican governor both before Kemp announced his plan to ease coronavirus restrictions and after it was unveiled on Monday, the officials said. Trump’s sudden shift came only after top health advisers reviewed the plan more closely and persuaded the president that Kemp was risking further spread of the virus by moving too quickly.

“I told the governor of Georgia Brian Kemp that I disagree strongly with his decision to open certain facilities,” Trump said Wednesday, just a day after telling reporters that he trusted Kemp’s judgment. “He knows what’s he’s doing.”

On Thursday, he was even harder on the governor: “I wasn’t happy with Brian Kemp, I wasn’t at all happy.”
                      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Nah. Fortunately for the structural integrity of my skull, I understand very clearly that this is what Republicans call a 'nothingburger.' 1. Immigration has already been at a standstill for over a month now, with the U.S. consulates abroad where visa interviews are scheduled and take place closed and USCIS offices all over the country, where green card, citizenship, asylum etc interviews take place, are likewise closed for the foreseeable future for our own safety. The courts are not closed, but are only holding hearings in the detained settings. Immigration is on pause anyway. AND this only affects people abroad who have not yet been granted a visa. It does not affect internal processing of adjustments of status via USCIS adjudications. For all we know, we'll all still be on lockdown 60 days from now or at least government offices closed abroad at minimum. So really... Who TF cares? This is just placebo red meat to throw at the maga hats so they can feel like Trump is a badass. No, actually he's a dumbass. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

So Politico did some actual reporting on this story instead of just interviewing the guy that is potentially axe grinding and fitting it into their narrative of all things Trump.

I hate it when I feel like I'm defending trump. I don't want to. But again there is so much to actually criticize, wtf don't the major media outlets do real reporting instead of being a part of the resistance? Maybe this guy was fired for going against trump on hydroxychloroquine. But it seems just as likely that he had been clashing with his bosses for a while and when it affected his career he saw an opportunity to get a willing media to blame it all on trump and be a hero whistle blower.

No I get it. I am more lenient on the media than others here, but this is a legitimate criticism. Trump presents so many easy targets that it seems the media (and us also) loses its focus, gets lazy, and doesn't get the story completely right. And then of course, Trump zeroes in on a bad story and lumps every other legitimate story into fake news.

This guy could be using a whistleblower complaint to save his reputation, sure. But then again, we've seen this type of response from Trump before:

Never heard of him, could have been pushed out, maybe not... I'm still betting Trump had at least something to do with it.
