    Buy and hold, baby.

Not the same thing. Brexit hasn't really even started yet has it? I thought it was at least two years or something before any real changes were going to happen.

Yea, my mistake. I should have put in "I think" you are.

Part of the reason I had hope that his protectionist positions were mere rhetoric was that it is such a terrible policy position and one that many dems and repubs get behind that I couldn't believe that he actually thought it might be a good policy. Today, I actually believe that he thinks it is a good policy position. Lord, I hope I am wrong.

            • This would be kind of fun. I can only risk $1,000. If there are 10 of you who would like to bet me $100, I will bet there is no trade war a year from now.

How the market and economy has done and is doing will be the measuring stick, not what the dip shits in the press are saying.

While almost all would agree that a trade war would result in a significant economic downturn; on the other hand, American business may have less regulation and a more business friendly Federal Government to look forward to. There's also the possibility of corporate tax reform that could put American business on a more level playing field. In addition, there is the likelihood of the ACA requirements on business being removed or modified. I think those are some factors driving the recent gains in the stock market and if implemented may result in job growth that would help working class America.

This is one thing he can't really do all on his own. He will need Congress to pass it. If there is no trade war it's because he can't get them to pass his ideas. Will it happen? I don't know. It depends on how much of a backbone the Repubs in Congress have.

Recently, President Trump issued a media blackout to the EPA, this after nominating notable client deniers to head the agency. This has had a chilling effect on scientists around the world.

                          ...

This post is about American leadership in science. In order for science to flourish it requires transparency. Science strives to be non-political and to explore the world as we find it. Of course individual scientists have the same weakness, political and otherwise, that define what it means to be human, but it works very hard to find and control those biases. It as procedures in place to expose and illuminate those things to the extent that is humanly possible. I’ve written elsewhere about the power of its tools. One of those tools, one of its critical tools, is transparency. When science becomes politicized and transparency goes it will fail.

I went to the article and couldn't find out any of the organizers names. It appears though Steven Peck is a professor at some university. That University isn't a research University though so my comment above wouldn't apply to him.

Agree. President Trump making good on his promise to build a wall should be one of the least of our worries. 10 years ago, Clinton (and many other Dems) voted for a border bill that put up most of the existing fence. We survived somehow.
