As far as the Russian probe I think that is getting drug out by the press and by alarmists like a couple of our cohorts who nitpick EVERY.....SINGLE.....ISSUE.... regardless of its importance. When Frank said it wasn't hyperbole that The Donald could get us in a nuclear war I almost spit up on my screen. I wanted to take a time machine back to the sixties and seventies and crawl into my fallout shelter. Trump is at times a dope who could stand to act more presidential. I think other times he's got a method to his madness. What I'd like to see happen is for the press and the alarmists to back off for a bit and actually give him a chance to see what happens when he can govern without the constant hounding about trivial matters.

I've already got what I wanted out of the guy, which was a conservative leaning Supreme Court Justice. There's a chance that I'm going to get another. I'm willing to let the rest play out a little bit before I start making up my mind about The Donald's presidency.
basically, nothing else matter since he had a good SC nominee. all of the other lies and incompetence is irrelevant apparently.

He has had a chance to govern. He has shown no interest.

He is pushing an agenda all of our racist white grandparents would be proud of (calling the White House 'a real dump,' taking billions from educational programs and throwing them toward building a wall to keep the invading foreigners out even though it objectively will have a very very sparse effect on illegal immigration; investigating universities for discrimination against whites , publicly encouraging police brutality to wild applause and then trying to say it was a joke after heavy public backlash even after his heavy public backlash for encouraging violence at his rallies, etc etc etc). Whether he's playing to the base or really believes these things is of little consequence. He doesn't 'at times' act like a dope who could stand to act more presidential; he's a dope who puts on a presidential face once in a while but can't stop his inner dope from dominating the room. Good for him for nominating Gorsuch- any moderate president, including Jeb, would have made the same call. There's a reason people point out his daily f*k-ups-- because so many people are acting like this is normal. It's time for this charade to end and for people to demand our Executive stop embarrassing the whole country by acting like a buffoon and advocating for the agenda of the idiotic, bigoted minority.

Why, take this article from Mesa, Arizona's own Senator Jeff Flake, for example-- just in case you thought you were on crazy pills:

For the record if I were president I would also spend the weekend golfing.

      • Yes, Trump hasn't completely destroyed the country. Yet. But he has done plenty of damage in the first six months and has proven there is no bottom to his ineptitude. Comparisons to past presidents is silly as is the "but Hillary would have been worse" line of trump apologetics. There is a clown show in the White House and we are in uncharted territory.

          God bless Jeff Flake.

If by 2017 the conservative bargain was to go along for the very bumpy ride because with congressional hegemony and the White House we had the numbers to achieve some long-held policy goals—even as we put at risk our institutions and our values—then it was a very real question whether any such policy victories wouldn’t be Pyrrhic ones. If this was our Faustian bargain, then it was not worth it. If ultimately our principles were so malleable as to no longer be principles, then what was the point of political victories in the first place?

This is funny. Trump is remaking the EPA, making lower court appointments that will most likely significantly transform the justice system, has reduced the number of illegals coming through the border without building the wall, withdrew from the Pariss Climate Accords, has started the process to restore oil drilling in the Arctic, is taking a hard look at public land issues including Federal Government overreach in places like Bear's Ears and Grand Staircase, is attempting to loosen regulations on business including adjustments to Dodd/Frank and is taking on Sanctuary Cities with the threat of withdrawing funds. Oh yes, he just banned transgendered folks from serving in the military.

Now you or I may not agree with all of the above but saying he hasn't done anything is simply balderdash. All that in the first seven months.

            • Aaaaand right on cue, to distract from his signing Russian sanctions, Trump announces the RAISE act, and manages to lie, lie, and lie some more in order to try to convince us that America should do away with family-based immigrant applications. Sorry, no more bringing your wife, kids, or parents from abroad. Also, you must speak English to apply, which if that isn't a nativist/White Supremacist dog whistle clause, nothing is. He also says "1 in 15 new immigrants are not employable." That is a joke for obvious reasons I shouldn't need to explain. Lastly, "You won't be able to come here and immediately go on welfare under the RAISE Act." Well you can't do that now, you moronic piece of shit! That's why current residency applicants require a sponsor and have for a long long time. You would think somebody would have explained that embarrassing mistake to him when he "proposed" that idea last month on the fly, but no! Seriously. This is genuinely indefensible.

You thought Trump and his allies were just against illegal immigration? No. They are against immigrants, period--just like David Duke and the rest of the nativist/populist/white supremacists in this country. That much is clear.

Agreed. There are select Republicans who will check The Donald when necessary.

If you're referring to me that's not even remotely true. I'm burned out after election years and I disengage from politics to a large degree. Sure I criticized Obama but not with anything that approaches the frequency of our resident snowflakes. I exclude Commando from that moniker. He's passionate about immigration and works in the trenches. I make sure to pay attention to his takes on the subject and they have assisted in forming my own opinions.

Cause no one else works the trenches and is passionate about the issues.

As for being burned out, I remember you "loved" Trump inaugural address. It's ok to have had hopes for this presidency while recognizing it has become a disaster.

so simply withdrawing from an accord is now an accomplishment? And starting the process to do something is an accomplishment?

when you have to resort to "attempting to" on a list of accomplishments, it is an admission there is nothing of substance

It was a nice speech. For the record I also watched the inaugurations in every election in which I voted.
