Everyone in that particular camp (Hanoi) was treated better during the last part of the war. They eventually figured out that McCain's family was famous (his father was CINCPAC and an admiral) and they fattened him up and offered to release him to score some political points, but he refused. Military protocol is that those more senior in rank should be released first. They told him that the offer wasn't good for anyone but him, and he said no thanks. So Uncle Ted's conspiracy photo is not just misleading, it pisses on the legacy of a man who showed incredible courage gave more for his country than most of us ever will. I find that kind of crap incredibly offensive. You want to dissect his politics, have at it. But don't question his military service.

Ditto for Trump's "I prefer soldiers who weren't captured" nonsense. Good grief, his plane was shot down.
Not my conspiracy photo and just a long list of stuff out there about McCain. Who knows if any of it is true.

My biggest gripe about McCain is that he acts like a warmonger. For example, he helped the Bush administration build the case for the Iraq war and still thinks it was a good idea. Lately it seems he wants the United States to get involved with Syria's civil war and to maybe invade Iran...

    "Bomb, bomb, bomb,... bomb Iran.."

Not to mention starting a war with the Russians.

    • Please Ted, this line you've taken on McCain is loopy and very offensive.

Like Trump, he could have avoided service in Vietnam, but he opted to serve.
      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

      • That meme chose a bad picture for the "healthy looking McCain". His awkward stance demonstrates his severe arm and leg injuries from the crash, subsequent botched surgery, and torture.

        • This is how a representative democracy with a separation of powers and a free press works. We'll survive the bumpy ride.

Which totally proves his point that McCain is a warmonger!

Yeah it is tough parsing out fact from fiction with all that great content on infowars. I think you just have to assume it's true and share it with as many people as possible until someone who is not affiliated with the Deep State, Illuminati or Bilderbergs proves otherwise.

                • I watched an interesting interview with George Will last night. He said something about the politics Trump has embraced which he got from Steve Bannon. Bannon has imported European far right nationalism into this country, which came out of European fascism of the 20s and 30s. It is hostile toward democratic institutions and governments, but uses those to rise to power and then aims to take them down. As protectionist as Trump is, it's ironic the political philosophy he's latched onto is an import.

For example, Trump isn't attacking the press because they're biased or don't always give him friendly coverage. He's attacking the press because this philosophy he is using and has apparently embraced is fundamentally against the whole idea of freedom of the press. His rantings are nothing more than attempting to set the stage for eliminating it. It doesn't mean he'll succeed, but that is what Putin was able to do in Russia, along with destroying all their other democratic institutions.

I can understand why you and others who believe Trump wants to be a dictator are so upset. I would be angry and frustrated if I had the same belief.

                    • As the Dow marches closer to 21,000 I remain surprised at how the market has acted since Trump was elected. With all of the commotion and antics, the market has all been positive. I would have thought that with everything swirling the way it has, the market would have reacted in a negative way as a result of uncertainty about the future.

We can agree to disagree. Just know we're fighting for your freedoms too!

The only thing he's really done so far is promise decreased regulation and lower taxes, and the stock market likes that. The protectionist, anti free trade things he's said in the past is what you need to watch out for. If some of those ideas get pushed through it won't be pretty for the economy, IMO. But at this point I think the Congress will not give him that, so we might be fine there.

                          • Trump doubles down w 2 DHS memos released yesterday that are more Bannon Propaganda. It's basically blathering, anti-immigrant nonsense that nobody can really pinpoint any real, substantive policy changes, other than the private prison industry is about to become even more filthy f8king rich than it already is because for some reason Trump is hiring 10,000 more ICE agents who currently don't have anywhere to house people they are arresting.
"I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

You know sometimes people just aren't appreciative of what someone did for them until speculation becomes reality. For the good of the country, it is my hope those who think they are fighting for my freedoms find they were misled.

As long as the press and those fighting for my freedom don't mess up Trumps agenda I am all for the scrutiny. Then I will come out of this not angry at anyone.

Just to clarify the agenda I am in favor of is. Stiffening defense against illegal aliens. I hope he softens his stance on those here who do not have criminal records, however I don't believe in a path to citizenship, just legal residence unless they go back and go through the same process legal immigrants go through.

I am all for cutting regulations.

I am all for a reasonable tax cut

I am all for his choice for the Supreme Court.

I really like his National Security team, especially the generals.

I hope he can work with other countries. I would especially like to see the rhetoric with Russia cool down and am in hopes we can find a way to work with them.

I like the message, the messenger is a jackass. There have been a lot of politicians that were jackasses and they didn't become dictators.

How do you feel about his anti-free-trade, protectionist thinking?

How do you feel about spending billions on a fence that will likely be ineffective?

How do you feel about his hostility toward freedom of religion?

How do you feel about his threats against a free press? Never mind. We know your answer to that one.
