His impact will likely be felt several years down the road, right???
That's a good question. I think most of the uptick in measles cases has been a few years in the making. From what I read most cases in the US are due to outbreaks, which implies low herd immunity in some areas. That didn't come overnight.

That doesn't absolve RFK Jr of anything though. His relentless anti-vaccine ideology will reverberate for decades. It should not be forgotten nor forgiven, either in this life or in the life to come.

Nobody writes about it.” That's probably because his waived salary is dwarfed by the vast piles of money he and his family have raked in during and because of his presidency. I'd bet that Trump has made more money during his presidency than the total income of all previous presidencies combined. MAGA's outrage at the hundreds of thousands of dollars Hunter Biden was paid seems somehow quaint at this point.

Don't know, but there must be a way to tie immigration to it.

It was a Afghan refugee (translator) who moved to the U.S. with his family after the withdrawal from Afghanistan. He became increasingly sporadic in his mental health and I believe was either separated or estranged from his wife and family. He is the guy who drove all the way to Washington DC from Oregon to shoot soldiers. He walked up to him and killed his fellow soldier Spc. Sarah Beckstrom) and was close to dying himself.

But, I am guessing you knew this and were making some point that has been lost on me. But there you go.. If you like, we could discuss how he needed mental health services and maybe was not fully vetted through Biden's Admin. but I don't see that being relevant as he seemed like a productive person and then changed. Or, you can say, he became deranged by all the ICE things which caused him to take such drastic actions, but that would mean you are slightly justifying his actions or looking for another way to demonize ICE which means this belongs in the ICE thread..

                None of the above.

A Purple Heart is bestowed based on qualifying criteria. It's not enough to be injured, the injury has to be the result of conflict:
                • In any action against an enemy of the United States.
                • In any action with an opposing armed force of a foreign country in which the Armed Forces of the United States are or have been engaged.
                • While serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflict against an opposing armed force in which the United States is not a belligerent party.
                • As the result of an act of any such enemy of opposing Armed Forces.
                • As the result of an act of any hostile foreign force.
                • As the result of an international terrorist attack against the United States or a foreign nation friendly to the United States,
                • As the result of military operations while serving outside the territory of the United States as part of a peacekeeping force.
                • Servicemembers who are killed or wounded in action by friendly fire.
"There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state. The other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people." -Cdr. Bill Adama

It seems that now that the military is being used to enforce the laws, the enemy has become the people, and injuries caused by the people are now deemed enemy action.

                  • I feel seen:

Last year the U.S. experienced something that hasn’t definitively occurred since the Great Depression: More people moved out than moved in. The Trump administration has hailed the exodus—negative net migration—as the fulfillment of its promise to ramp up deportations and restrict new visas. Beneath the stormy optics of that immigration crackdown, however, lies a less-noticed reversal: America’s own citizens are leaving in record numbers, replanting themselves and their families in lands they find more affordable and safe.

I read that this morning and found it very interesting. I knew Portugal is a hot spot for people to retire to. I know a French guy that retired there last year. I wouldn’t consider it but I’ve considered buying a small apartment near Paris and spending half the year there.

this is a Trump problem but it’s also mostly an American affluence problem where people can find a much lower cost of living abroad compared to the salaries they were making their whole life. It’s kind of like the Californians taking there money and moving to Utah.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

yeah, completely agree. It's first and foremost due to relative affluence, that's the first 'hit'. The second hit that compels to action is emotion, political, safety reasons, etc.

                        • pentagon is going to cancel claude because it wont agree to pentagons rules

pentagon will then say they are a supply chain threat and no one can do business iwth them if they do business with the pentagon, because they wont agree

claude is already heavily integrated into the pentagon and will cost a lot of money to replace it with something worse just because they wont agree to spy on americans andt o allow systems mnot controlled by humans

The government subpoenaed massive amount of data from reddit, Facebook etc for account who complained about Alex Pretti being killed. That move should scare everyone
