Yeah. My employer is part of the funding. I'm furious! That money could be going to me!

On a more serious note. It seems these big companies feel they need be paying for crap like this. That isn't right. Companies shouldn't feel they need to be on the governments good side outside of upholding the law.

Getting worked up over the ballroom is dumb.

They tore down a carport. Every other president does something with the Whitehouse. This isn't a big deal.

You think the entire East Wing is just a carport?

The east wing was just a carport?!? Pretty amazing carport to have had all these interesting historical notes:

Now if your argument is this isn't a big deal in the face of everything else Trump is doing, I agree. But it's still emblematic of how he views his presidency, which is mostly bad amirite?

So far, they have ripped down a carport. I have no problem with ripping down the East Wing if that's what they need to do. I've been inside a couple of times and each time I thought it was too small for the events they have.

Barak thought the tennis court wasn't good enough for hoops. I supported him in that righteous endeavor.

Current satellite photos showing the before and after.

New satellite images show the scale of demolition that has occurred on the East Wing of the White House in less than a month.

The entire East Wing is gone.

Yeah, that's pretty gross. But not surprising.
                  Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Campaign promises made, promises kept. Capital sentences for non-capital crimes:

His shrugging shoulders about killing people really is clarifying.

I would wager a significant percentage of the electorate is OK with this. This faith in the government's ability to righteously deal with suspected criminals is unbelievably depressing.

I think all of you nitpickers who are against the White House changes will feel better once you see all of the awesome gold accents covering 30% of the surface area.

That what bothers me the most, along with the fear he and/or his acolytes will start calling it the Trump Ballroom. The White House has undergone may changes over the years, but none by a president with such tacky taste as DJT's.

if you are talking about people on this site, I would quibble with that characterization. I am definitely concerned, but so far all I have posted is that the ballroom will nearly equal the rest of white house altogether. That's a pretty massive change to the White House that apparently was not discussed with anyone.

I am also not pleased with the continued lying from our President. On July 31, he said that the ball room would be "near" the East Wing, but it wouldn't "touch it" and that the existing structure wouldn't be touched. Less than 3 months later, in the middle of a government shutdown, he tore down 2/3 of the White House, demolishing the entire East Wing. I guess that's what he meant by the ballroom "wouldn't touch it".

Of course, that is not correct. I don't know if you have looked at this issue very deeply if you weren't aware of that. They have been tearing into the building itself (you could see the floors) for days.

Regardless of that, the White House is undoubtedly a historic building, if not the nation's most historic building. There are design review committees and a budget approved by Congress for the renovations and modernization projects that a President has authority to conduct. That's what the other presidents who changed the building went through. Of course, Trump installed a new head of the architectural committee and that guy is claiming the committee has authority over construction, not destruction. And by having it "fully funded by outside groups, Trump is apparently side-stepping any budget approved by Congress. Btw, when will those donations be disclosed?? I would love to see exactly who paid how much to whom.

And I know that you and brock and others have no problem with it. Lots of other people have a big problem with it. I feel like I have a medium problem with it.
