I just hope that the AOC/Bernie wing of the Democratic party isn't elevated among the base in response to MAGA, like the reactionary GOP base was with Trump. But the silver lining on the bitter pill (I love me some mixed metaphors) of Trump's economic shenanigans is that it's not too far off of what Bernie has advocated for. I'm hopeful the country now recognizes the perils of a centrally planned economy.

Mrs. NWC, center left while living in the US, is now on a Bernie high. This is compounded by living in a BC riding that is represented by a NDP (hard left) member of legislature. If someone like her is drifting leftward, you libertarian types might be in for a long sojourn in the political desert.

At least for Mrs. NWC, I think it comes down to a 'both-sides' realization that fiscal prudence is not a practical priority with either party. So if you're going to blow a wad of dough, do it to help the most in need.

That mentality resonates with me also. If you show me by your works that the country is facing financial oblivion, then I will warm up to the idea that austere measures are needed. But since no one is doing that and both parties are presumably driving the car off a cliff, I will resonate with those who speak for the disadvantaged.

That's fair. Honestly I haven't researched him that much. But certainly there is a fair amount of well-intentioned but crazy grandpa vibe with him.

Navarro was all up in the plot to topple the 2020 election. I think you're right that Trump values those actions because he acts like a sort of self-styled mobster.

Roger Stone and Steve Bannon are other examples. Those guys are awful and behind the creation of MAGA. They don't belong anywhere near a political audience or having access and influence on our government
