It is other peoples fault Trump wants to be a dictator and is busy fulfilling his dream. If this is true.

I don't think there were unbelievable conspiracies thrown around about Trump. Especially "Russiagate." One should read more than Barr's sketchy summary letter. Mueller didn't recommend charges for Trump, and some of that had to do with how restricted the scope of the investigation was. But it wasn't like anything indicated his behaviors was beyond reproach and they did a lot of concerning information; including Roger Stone and his connection with Assange and Gucifer 2.0

It would be out of the ordinary for Trump not to be doing something sketchy.

But you are on to something I think is a real factor. Trump engaged in so much egregious behavior and it became expected he would by his opponents that a lot of moderates got scandal fatigue. It was one thing after another. The normal moderately informed person could keep track of all that shit and it started sounding like noise to a lot of people.

I don't know that backing of concerns about Trump would've been the answer. From the start he campaign was antagonistic with the media and have programmed his follows not to believe anything a legitimate news source puts out, while turning to podcast and social media land to get their information. Trump's camp has so been so good at staying on message that I think some of his followers have fallen pretty to the illusory of truth effects. You hear anything over and over again you believe it.

I've definitely gotten the message people don't enjoy my alarmist urgency surrounding Trump's behavior, but my worries aren't uneducated or uninformed. Some of it comes from a general frustration that the guy can do whatever he wants and no one on that side of aisle will lift a finger to put him in check.

All that got mixed in with conjecture.

And his core supporters developed such an emotional allegiance nothing Trump could do or not do would be wrong. I think that reflects poorly of them. A huge chunk of them believe in QAnon. There isn't a parallel or precedent for that absurdity.

I think there so many telling things to do with Trump that just bushed aside or forgotten. The Epstein connection is another easy to see sketchy piece of Trump's past that the left hardly addressed. The man states he was Trump's closest friend and went into concerning details.

Since Covid, I have seen this enormous spike in people who have religious fervour around the earth being flat.

Interesting. Don't really agree, but what conspiracies did his opponents chase down that kept them from stropping him?
          Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Trump's Justice department has, in the last day, dropped federal charges (with prejudice) against a Texas doctor who allegedly accessed and shared private, protected information about patients—specifically, children receiving gender-related care—in violation of federal law. It also dropped charges against 3 defendants in prosecutions for blocking reproductive care facilities (18 USC 248).

              Much Law. Such Order. Wow.

My mother in law is convinced the only illegals they are going after are the hard criminals. I suppose the executive order removing the restriction against conducting raids in places like schools is just for fun.

I don't think Trump was subject to nonsensical conspiracies, and certainly nothing on par with the insanity he fed, created and perpetuated. He was the ultimate snowflake. But he is great at playing the victim card. "Russiagate," "witchhunt," "deep state."
Some of those fears were backed up by shady politicians like Devin Nunes, Trey Gowdy, and Jim Jordan, to name a few.

The dug into all the communication from fbi agents and learned they thought Trump was an asshole. That, then became backed up by unhelpful influencers and all the rest got ignored.

Hey guys we don't need FEMA per Trump. I'm wondering when people who have less sensitivity around calling Trump authoritarian, dictatorial or fascistic?

Also, I think it gets lost than Trump is cunning and Machiavellian but he isn't particularly intelligent. One of his Penn professors called him the dumbest student he ever had. Without search I don't recall of the details.

His loathing of reading things couple with his ego make him easily manipulateable.

Who really needs the FEMA Flood Map Service Center, after all? It's not like any industries rely on those.

I remember a few years back, I believe not long before the 2020 election our departed friend NonSeq suggested that if Trump were to win again there would begin to be talk from his side about overturning the 22nd Amendment. As I recall he was pretty much laughed off the stage here for that. It will be interesting to see if the FOX Noise folks start to push for this.

What is the realistic path to this?

From my POV all those ‘conspiratorial rabbit holes’ are akin to potential energy. You’re right, the very worst of our worries didn’t happen in Trump’s first term. And some of the screeching did seem outlandish. But put Trump in another country that doesn’t have the guardrails we have and those worst fears would be coming to pass.

Trump has been open about what he wants to do with those guardrails for his second term. What was accepted as ‘crazy, but unlikely to happen’ in the first term will be that much easier to occur in his second.
