  • Vivek is spot on here.

    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

    • A lot of you guys were skeptical. But Trump said he is now a fan of project 2025.

He is picking Kari Lake to be the head of Voice of America.
      Rough days are ahead.

Also looking at comparative life expectancies in a vacuum is not a good measure of quality of healthcare. We have a lot of unhealthy lifestyle traits in the US that significantly lower our life expectancy compared to other first world nations but have little to do with quality of care. We are 6 years lower than the world leaders in Hong Kong and Japan and about 4 years lower than Bernie Sanders's supposed favorite Scandinavian countries. Most (all?) of that gap can be accounted for by differences in car accidents, drug abuse, violent crime, and obesity.

I'm not trying to hold up the US healthcare system as a model we should preserve at all costs. It is a frankenstein's monster that has evolved for a variety of reasons, many regulatory. But arguments about spending and life expectancy vastly oversimplify the issue. Anyone who says they have the easy answer is lying.

Haha, this is a hilarious take. He gave her a pat on the head and offered her one of the least impactful, most inconsequential assignments imaginable.

            Coach agrees with me.

Yeah I don't even know what VOA does anymore. I assume most are in the same boat. Go have fun over there Kari (pats head).

At this point I'd give Trump all his nominees if it would guarantee RFK jr. would be left out. Our society is very close to losing the bulwark on vaccines, as crazy as that sounds.

              • Well shit. Some crank is going to show him a power point about polio and he's going to be convinced:

During an appearance last weekend on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Mr. Trump said he was open to a review of vaccines and autism. But he singled out the polio vaccine as a potential exception.

“The polio vaccine is the greatest thing,” Mr. Trump said. “If someone told me get rid of the polio vaccine, they’re going to have to work really hard to convince me.”
This whole article is sobering. The anti-vax crowd has significant legal help. They could alter decades of health policy, all because very few people remember what pandemics are like.

That looks like a good place to start cutting government jobs and spending.

I missed where he said that. Maybe provide a link.

I didn't doubt that Trump would implement things found in Project 2025 (I honestly have no idea what's in there but I can imagine based on who wrote it). I just found it to be a weird bogeyman when Trump literally already had some pretty well defined fringe and crazy policies. Tagging Project 2025 to him was a liberal move that never took hold.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Project 2025 is different than fringe ideas. It is a well developed and funded idea. It's being implemented.

It's symptomatic of him bringing in the most awful people into his orbit.

She is going to be a propagandist

I disagree. Some, not all, of Trump’s appointments are outstanding and an absolute upgrade over Biden officials. Rubio, Bondi, Bressent, Burgum, and Wiles are fantastic. There are definitely some ridiculous appointments, but overall I’m pleasantly surprised. Still love DOGE.

                                That's not even difficult.
