For the record, Tim can sound just like Harry Caray/Will Ferrell.

I've concluded conclusively that the "rule of threes" is nothing more than urban legend.

I'm still waiting for my third full facial.
          Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

The radio stations are playing Michael Jackson "marathons," except they're all playing the same five songs in the same order over and over. Surely they could at least come up with a dozen.

Both of these need to be on there, and what do you have against Thriller and You Are Not Alone?

Thriller was an oversight......You Are Not Alone was poisoned, because at Georgia Tech we had this juvenile habit of changing the song as if it were a love song to a little boy, and it ruined it for me forever.

The Encore was because I was doing a concert "playlist." Saving two of the best for last.

There's something just so funny about little Michael Jackson singing, "There's something about you baby, that makes me want to give it to you."

I'm amazed this morning how sad I still feel about this. I think it must have something to do with this being the music of my childhood. I remember distinctly in third grade when dad brought Thriller home on LP and how it was listened to over and over.

Interestingly, my iTunes store indicates that about a quarter of the top 100 downloads today are Micheal Jackson songs.

                        Just emoting here.

It's not just that. It's when you hear that crystal-clear voice of that joyful little boy belting out ABC and I'll Be There, you can't help but juxtapose that with the eccentric recluse that took his life yesterday, and it's really - well - sad.

I concur. When I heard about it, I sort of dismissed it. You know, one less whack job in the world.

Then I read up a bit on his life. You think about where he comes from, the abuse he suffered in his childhood, his physical ailments, the tremendous (if not unsurpassed) pressure he received from the media et al . . . he lived a hard life. But when he had the spotlight, he used it as a platform for equality, caring for one's fellow man, and making the world a better place. He gave millions of dollars to almost forty different charities. I see an image of a man permanently scarred by his traumatizing past and fighting on with everything he had in him.

His life story is a real tragedy.

Yep. I've never liked his music; it just didn't appeal to me. There were a few songs I wouldn't turn off, but that's about it. But the guy was talented.

It's criminal to have to endure what he endured as a child. If you have no talent, the child labor laws protect you. If you have talent, people make themselves rich off of you, turn you into a total emotional basket case, and then justify it by telling you that they're building your career.

I htink a lot of people are feeling that. I never bought a single Michael Jackson song or Album until a couple of months ago, when I picked up a couple of J5 songs on iTunes. I never cared for him, and spent much of high school mocking those who did. While I am not sitting at my desk right now sobbing, it has affected me more than I expected it to. I think that you are spot on that for anyone between the ages of 30 and 45, MJ's music was a lrge part of the background of their youth. Add to that the fact that, if you are near the older side of that demographic, you always felt he wasn't that much older than you, and it becomes kind of a shock to see him go.
