I hope Johnson gets a chance too. People will probably call Johnson supporters crazy or potheads or something like that. I really hope he gets enough numbers in the polls to make the debates!

      No, you may keep yours.
"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

But this is the typical statist MO. If you're not with us, you're a moron and we will crush you for your own good. To be a statist is to deny choices, and it seems to be very binary. I am really surprised Trump didn't opt to go to the Dems, as he would make a much better Democrat than Republican.

Johnson is cool right now, you'll be fine.

BTW, even thought he's not my choice I was way ahead of the curve on him.

That could be a new thread - which CS poster is most typical of CS?

seems like a bit of a cop out, but if I'm honest, I'd say lebowski.
              I'm like LeBron James.

                  Is politics fun any more?

I know for a long time, it was fun to discuss public policy, to understand the workings and to argue for or against a position. There were times when Republicans won or lost, but there was always a chance. This has a feeling of ominous permanence. The GOP has very little guidance, doesn't know what sort of positions it wants and hasn't built an effective coalition.

The Dems have always had it easier, as the party of entitlements. You pander to the voters promising them goodies to be paid for by somebody else. As uninformed as voters are, that often sounds good. It is not good public policy, but it is effective politics. So to have some based, the GOP sells its soul to large established businesses in order to create monopolies for themselves or to increase barriers to entry. It seems like an endless circle jerk. The fact that the GOP has ever won any election given the tremendous hurdles and disadvantages it possesses. But the newer generations are generations that have grown up expecting and demanding more and more entitlements. In essence, we have generations which are demanding more and giving less. Am I the only one that doesn't believe this is a recipe for prolonged economic success? What are the think tanks recommending for the GOP to recapture some of its past electoral success?

My opinion is the radicals have captured both parties. The republican radicals didn't do so well this time and I don't know how I would classify Trump.

Gone are the days when I was a republican, but thought the dems had a lot of good politicians (moderate). They have shifted totally to the left without a lot of upheaval. The republicans have been in chaos for a while thanks to the far righties.

The dem convention was sheer theatre, good theatre but sheer theatre.

Hillary asking for unity, lauding compromise and promising to work for all of us is completely laughable. Her and President Obama's idea of compromise is to do it their way. She figures working for me is trying to further a far left agenda? There are very few moderates in the democrat party anymore. The faces of the Party are President Obama, Hillary, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. Three of them I really dislike and all four I dislike their policies. For the record I don't hate any of them but one comes close.

Unfortuantely the party I belong too which still has moderates has imploded.

It is a ludicrous assertion that she is the voice of reason. Trump is a bombastic ass, but Hillary is a divisive son of a bitch. The thought of her working for anybody but her own personal finances is laughable. My hope is that the GOP goes guerilla on her during her term. I am not holding out hope of only one term, as I did that for Obama and we had to suffer that Arse for eight years. The arrogance and condescension of statists makes my blood boil to the point I understand why revolutionaries act as they do. My friend, one of the last moderates in the Democratic Party, stated, he "feared Trump's nonsense more than Hillary's, because Obama was barely tolerable but Hillary will be an extension of Obama's crap," which he survived. He is afraid he won't survive Trump's instability. I agree that moderation and sensibility is gone in our body politic. There is a reason though. Statism, which dictates rights flow from the state, not the individual, means also that the smarter people make decisions for us plebeian masses and we have to suffer the consequences because they are doing good for us. In that mindset possessed by Obama and Hillary, there is no compromise. Choice is not an option. Heavy-handed administration is the order of the day. That's why checking out of society is mentally freeing. Fuck them all and go play golf.

I will be fine with Hillary if we get a republican congress. She will blame not getting the far left agenda through on the republicans. That is OK with me.

I did love her call for helping small business. Wow has she ever talked to small businessmen. What is holding them down are the regulations, Obamacare and taxes.
She also said she would make the banks lending policies easier for them to get money. Sounds familiar. Government making it easier to get money for unqualified home owners.

A Big Government advocate has no idea what small business needs. It is a hollow call.

I won't be fine with her at the helm, but there is nothing I can do. Avoiding all tv sets when she is speaking will be a priority. More time for internet research.

I've been around. Maybe my posting frequency and potency isn't as prolific as it once was. I hear that happens with age.

I guess I'm out of the running for the title "most typical CS poster."

Wahoo, just looked at the ongoing poll and see Johnson is one vote behind Hillary. I can understand why Trump has almost no votes. I can't understand why Hillary has more than 3 votes.

I probably shouldn't say that though, I haven't had any luck getting friends and family to switch to Johnson.
