Always easy to get some votes if you promise people free stuff. But it doesn't carry the day in the US because most of us are smart hard working people who know better. I'm sorry you are so resentful.
I was agreeing with you, you massive dork. Time to give that stick up your ass a rest and put it back in the drawer for a while...

You were agreeing with me for the wrong reasons.

The crux of the left’s problem is their superiority complex. It exceeds the worst false pride I’ve ever seen among religious people. I saw the article I linked above on facebook, and the poster commented that the 12 percent of Bernie Sanders voters who switched to Trump “respond to populism.” Hilarious that the 88 percent think that about the 12 percent. Sanders is nothing if not a populist candidate. Yesterday I saw a post from a woke neighbor—she and her husband white and super rich and constantly fly all over the world—and she said talking to people about politics is like getting them to care about others. I saw another such person who posted a political cartoon depicting two debauched blue collar workers sitting at a bar grousing that those damn liberals want to give them free health care, more social security, etc. “Damn liberals! Don’t get me started.”

A little empathy. A little respect and effort to understand the differening perspective would go a long way to beating Trump. What may be most aggravating is that I live in the heartland of this attitude, and I can tell you that it is mostly virtue signaling. Most of these self-righteous woke people in big citiesjust talk about their purity on social media.

          • Of last night's participants:

I can vote for Biden, Klobuchar, and Butigieg and feel fine with the choice.

Tom Steyer has a certain Gerald Ford place-holding quality. He'll have the sense to surround himself with well-qualified people.

I can vote for the Khrushchev-era party man (Sanders) and the femocrat (Warren) because Trump really is that bad.

Of candidates with a chance to win the nomination I like Warren the least.

My political views and my tone have not changed, if you've been paying attention. There's a long record of it here. Mormons and exmos alike assume that if you are an apostate you must be a leftist. That's more often than not true, but not always. What some of us took from our Mormon experience is a libertarian outlook and deep mistrust for collectivist thinking and piety, as well as the good sense to realize that capitalism works. My views are very much in line with many such as Andrew Sullivan, Brett Easton Ellis, and Brett Stephens, who have agreed with all of the civil rights causes including same sex marriage, but are skeptical of environmentalist dogma, woke nonsense, knee-jerk support for Islamic interests (and attendant leftist antisemitism), and identity politics (note that a rift has now formed between transgender and gay movements). However, there is a lot of LDS apostasy out there that is rooted in economic resentment--resentment toward more prosperous active Mormons, and resentment that Max Weber's protestant work ethic formulation or the LDS blessings for keeping the commandments promise has not born fruit for them. Hence, there are so many Bernie supporters among exmos.

Dude you might not have liked how I said it, but-- no I wasn't I promise. You've decided I'm a 'lefty,' too, so you'll argue that point when that's not even true. (I may have a superiority complex on a personal level, but that has nothing to do with my political leanings.)

I was agreeing impassively and objectively with you that the political points to be made with trying to get rid of student loan debt are few and hard to earn. Especially with active voters. Sheesh-- I guess I shouldn't try to make such an obvious point as an olive branch, but shit- give me just an inch of common ground here...

                        I'm never-Bernie and never-Warren. The others I would consider.

                          • Is bad karma ever going to catch up with Warren for her serial lying and duplicity? It isn't plausible that Sanders would tell her a woman can't be elected president. Good grief, she's a terrible person.

But Trump seems immune to bad karma. Maybe she is too.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

I haven't followed her lies, except for the Native American lie. What others has she been spreading as I hear this among my conservative and libertarian friends?
