I'd say the onus is on YOU to prove why we need to come up with a workaround in the first place. Where is this great compelling need for voter ID, pray tell. How is democracy being undermined so much that demonstrably suppressive acts are committed in the name of "ballot security"?

The guy in Carolina threw away Democratic ballots. That doesn't speak to the voter ID issue.

That case has jack shit to do with voter impersonation laws.

It speaks to how votes can be manipulated at the local level if even one person makes the effort to do so. He gathered absentee ballots, filled them in, and submitted them. I guess we could resolve this issue by dipping the fingers of those that have voted in permanent ink. Not high tech, but a solution.

No Walter... IDs are suppressive. IDs suppress folks from flying on planes. They keep folks from walking onto a campus and sitting down in a Spanish class so they can get an education. And now they are requiring "real" IDs... WTF! Don't you see this is just the GOP'ers trying to control us? In Texas we have open primaries. We don't need no stink'n Dem IDs to vote for Bernie. We need to ban all IDs now!

I'd happily vote for Pete. Yes, he's inexperienced, but not that much more inexperienced than Obama was. And although I was never a fan of Obama or his policies, he was much better than Trump (on almost everything but judges) and far better than Bernie or Warren would be.

I can't wait until we finally move on from from having to choose between Baby Boomer candidates. It's time for a new generation to lead.

Sure, it exists, but I guess that line of argument is close enough for government work. These laws aren't about "ballot security" but merely seek to prevent in-person voter fraud via voter impersonation. You show up and claim to be someone else and vote in their stead. Voter impersonation is not a problem; you can't find a time in the last 30 years when it affected the democratic process because it's just not practical to get election-swaying numbers of voters to go vote outside their precincts for whom you tell them to vote. I really cannot understand why people see this as anything other than <redacted> unAmerican bullshit. If the Rights of Man are inalienable, then why should anyone have to prove their free exercise thereof?

I'm not sure that I can answer this.....you've got me. I don't have time right now to go and read Bill of Rights discussions about whether or not the right to keep and bear arms is a Right of Man. I think that it is, since it would support "Life" if you can defend yourself. But, I don't know. I'd like to understand better the framing of the 2nd Amendment before I offer up an opinion, because, if I support background checks for buying a gun (and I do), then I'm being hypocritical about voting with ID, and I need to consider my opinion some more. It might be a good while before I can answer this honestly, but for now I think that your question is very valid and has given me pause.
