From what I understand like half the EU is planning to fire up their coal powered plants this winter... They are all trying to keep up with China.

I can understand environmental activists being upset about this ruling, but when the constitution clearly places the congress as THE most important legislating body in governemnt, of course this court will rule to place that decision making back in their hands.

It's clear from Biden's comments earlier this morning that the filibuster is in trouble. We'll see if Sinema and Manchin can hold strong. But I fear an overreaction from Dems will lead to an unchecked GOP majority at a time when they are completely unhinged.

Why is an expansive and undemocratic bureaucratic agency that supercedes inmandate the only way to handle environmental policy? A strategy change needs to be in order for sure. But how sustainable is an EPA that will just be shackled as soon as the GOP takes the white house. It isn't smart policy to bank bureaucracy to cure ills to begin with.

I am with you brother. I am very pessimistic about the future of the country. The zeal against abortion had 50 years to fester. It is not going away any time soon, and will lead to a broader red/blue state divide. The reality of states considering laws banning people from crossing state lines or prosecuting anyone who helps someone get an abortion is unbelievable.

Of course, the world has bigger problems. But don't look to us for any leadership.

Or, once the realities of trying to ban abortions in red states becomes obvious, the temperature starts to cool down. Plus, constant warfare is exhausting. The extremes will tucker themselves out and the country will move past them.

Sure. Let's say Congress passes a law that legalizes abortion along with some restrictions they are able to negotiate and finally agree on. Huge legislative accomplishment, right? Well, some state will sue and then the justices will just find a way that the commerce clause or something else in there doesn't give Congress enough authority to do anything about it and out it goes..

Here you go, I think this article is probably right.

It's not going to be that hard for this court to throw out a lot of stuff Congress might pass. All the angst some mostly on the right have about the Senate modifying or eliminating the filibuster is overblown as long as the Court is situated the way it is.

The author is more pro-abortion rights than I am but I am pretty skeptical about the current makeup of the Court with Thomas and Alito driving the bus. They seem to be in a mood right now for finding rights to eliminate, which seems pretty un-libertarian to me.
