Kudos to the state leg for booting him.

The Texas senate still has to vote and it's less clear they'll have the two-thirds needed. Adding to the drama is that his wife is a state senator.

      • Doesn’t Texas still have some dry counties?

True. Nonetheless, a rare case of some republicans choosing integrity over party loyalty. Good for them.

            • Can someone in Texas or any conservative explain why Abbott is pardoning Daniel Perry and the legislature is now trying to prosecute the prosecutor who worked on convicting him in the first place?

Yeah, his parole board recommended that the governor pardon him... take it up with them.

                • Those dang Catholics, I don't know, trying to apply the teachings of Christ. Can't have that!

Hard for me to understand how so many otherwise fine people are so corrupted by MAGA that they think that a church trying to relieve some suffering is a bad thing.

I dunno, it's almost just like that stuff that is in the New Testament and Book of Mormon, that a lot of people who shout loudly about being Christian but are angry and mean to sinners and the lower classes, aren't really all that Christian. The meek will inherit the earth not the strong and powerful. Trump rebranding and selling his own Bibles, should be an indication he's not exactly trying to live the message himself.

Also, whatever happened to trying to have Paxton removed?

                    • A Texas middle school is trying to kids from wearing all black clothing. It sounds like there is some busybodies who need more productive things to do.

LOL! Because mental health! There is no issue too small or solution too absurd for middle school administrators.

Does the school administration not understand that correlation between the students wearing all black and the students who are depressed does not necessarily mean that the all black clothing caused the depression? Could be worse. At least they're not wearing all red.

Also, I think some Texas lawmakers are pushing pastors to be chaplains in place of trained clinicians. It wouldn't involve any threshold for training either. Nothing could go wrong with that.
