Whoa Dwight. Looks like your friend list is heavily Do Terra weighted. And you're not converted yet???

Fortunately just one old roommate from college. The convention had him sharing all sorts of this wonderful stuff. Unfortunately, since the convention, he's come down with a nasty sinus infection that is causing him all sorts of headaches that he hasn't been able to kick. Poor kid. If only there was something...

FDA lowers the hammer on one part of doTERRA and Young Living oils: They can't claim that their oils cure ebola.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning three companies it says are marketing products as possible treatments or cures for Ebola; two of those companies are here in Utah. The FDA said Lehi-based Young Living and dōTERRA International, LLC in Pleasant Grove are promoting products some of the

I believe the claim was that oils prevent the contraction of ebola. So far in America 100% effective!

Today we received a letter from the FDA. Be assured that this notice is nothing to be alarmed about. It addresses the way a select few of our Wellness Advocates have been marketing essential oils online as well as through various social media engines. Because doTERRA’s products are natural products and are not registered with the FDA as drugs, we are restricted on the health claims that can be made for marketing purposes. Although we recognize essential oils have profound health benefits, it is important that we not make claims that would position our products as a drug. For example, recommending an essential oil to cure a particular disease would be considered a drug claim.
All materials produced by doTERRA are FDA compliant, and we work closely with our Wellness Advocates to ensure their marketing materials are also compliant. Please understand that the FDA is not faulting dōTERRA for making claims in our marketing materials or labeling. Rather they are encouraging us to make Wellness Advocates aware that they should not make medical claims in their marketing. It’s likely that this appeared on FDA’s radar screen because of comments that essential oils help prevent contracting the Ebola virus – something that would amount to a drug claim.
We have reached out to the owners of the website the FDA cited in their letter to us, and the Wellness Advocates who host the site have voluntarily pulled it down. We will work with them to bring their marketing materials into compliance so their site can once again be activated. We encourage all of our Wellness Advocates to take advantage of the marketing materials we have created for your use on the dōTERRA tools website (www.doterratools.com). We also have a Compliance team to help guide your marketing language should you have any questions. If you would like their assistance, please feel free to contact them via e-mail at compliance@doterra.com.
The FDA recognizes doTERRA’s commitment to be compliant with all government regulatory bodies, and we are grateful they brought this website to our attention. This notice is a great reminder for all of us to be good stewards of the gifts of the earth as we share and market their benefits. For more information about safe and effective marketing practices, please view this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5j04VumEJmY/.
Thanks for all you do to empower families and individuals. We are excited about continuing to partner with you to offer the world’s most pure and efficacious essential oils. We are changing the world together one drop at a time!

So it sounds like their position is that it probably does prevent Ebola, but they just can't say it due to regulatory issues.

I had a bishop a few years back who was a Physician's Assistant (I think that's what he was. That's the one that can prescibe drugs, right?). Lots of folks in the ward had him as their primary care doc, but my wife and I didn't as we don't feel it is appropriate for the bishop to see us naked. A couple of years after we got there, he started going heavy with the Noni juice, and he would tell me about telling his patients to drink it to cure all sorts of things. I always wondered how many regulatory agencies and oversight groups he could get in trouble with for that. It also completely closed out any chance that I would ever use him for medical services (except to sign my son's scout camp form so I wouldn't have to pay for a doctor's visit).

FDA says your oils may not do what you say they do.

"You interns are like swallows. You shit all over my patients for six weeks and then fly off."

All that FDA heat has made one 'typical oil mom' look for a better oil:

After much research, studying, discussing, and even more prayer, I have decided to make a huge change. Essential Oils have changed my life, and dōTERRA introduced me to them. I have worked with the most amazing people and learned so much! I love them. But I have found a company that can offer the clinical grade standard of oils used in all of the thousands of studies published in medical papers on PubMed. Not only that but they can SHOW HOW THEY WORK INSIDE YOUR CELLS! This has never been done before ever. I just saw it. And it gave me chills. (Plus I may or may not have cried. I'm such an oily nerd!). Also. I have used them and they just work better. You know me and know I am all about the oils. And Amèo is making me a stronger more effective TYPICAL OIL MOM. @ameooils

I guess I can see that kind of behavior coming from an oily nerd.

The nearest I ever came to praying about oils was when I was a kid, I would have prayed that my Orioles would beat Dennis Boyd when they faced him.

Oil Can Boyd was one of my favorite Red Sox players. I think it was another Dennis, Dennis Eckersely (also a favorite of mine) who gave him the nickname.

I prayed about oil once. My 1974 Fiat had a bad oil leak and, after parking it at a trail head for a week while we were backpacking, I prayed that there would be enough oil left in the block to allow us to get back home.
