I am not surprised that you know a few gay people in Utah that use that term. I know several myself.Originally posted by Shaka View PostHe's in Palo Alto for the rest of the week. I'll ask when he gets back. Other gay people I know have yet to use the term. I'll keep you posted.
But try AppleJack's little test and google the term. Then note what kind of links come up.

Then stop kidding yourself that this is an expression commonly used in the overall gay community."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Since I've been Asexual for the last two weeks I would never claim to speak for any gay community. It's amusing to me that Applejack, through the use of Google's search engine, does the opposite and uses the opportunity to take offense when his reasoning is just as suspect as mine. Someone summon a pollster and get to the bottom of whether the homosexual community is actually offended by the term.

It think the terms "offense" and "being offended" are too loaded to be meaningful in cases like this. See '71's crazy obsession with political correctness.Originally posted by Shaka View PostI saw Applejack's Google results.

As for the reasoning, I think Eric Snider lays it out pretty well in the article referenced above. More than anything else, it is just kind of a dumb expression."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

I would like to, but due to old age that one went right over my head. I noticed others enjoyed it though. Someday the rest of you will be old and will feel bad about how you treated me.Originally posted by YOhio View PostI like it, but let's wait until HB Coug's SSA friends and byu71 chime in.

Interesting. Didn't know he was gay, but not surprised either. I thought, for some reason, that he was married. I guess not.Originally posted by Moliere View PostEric Snider (whose articles I still enjoy reading) is gay. I didn't know.

Not only gay and unmarried, but active Mormon as well.Originally posted by UVACoug View PostInteresting. Didn't know he was gay, but not surprised either. I thought, for some reason, that he was married. I guess not.
I wonder if it was Bateman stiffing him on a tip that turned him gay
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf
