Since I've been Asexual for the last two weeks I would never claim to speak for any gay community. It's amusing to me that Applejack, through the use of Google's search engine, does the opposite and uses the opportunity to take offense when his reasoning is just as suspect as mine. Someone summon a pollster and get to the bottom of whether the homosexual community is actually offended by the term.

It think the terms "offense" and "being offended" are too loaded to be meaningful in cases like this. See '71's crazy obsession with political correctness.

As for the reasoning, I think Eric Snider lays it out pretty well in the article referenced above. More than anything else, it is just kind of a dumb expression.
