In the tax world "non-resident alien" is a term of art that is defined by the IRS. We were told by the HR department that we could not use that term because "aliens" was offensive.Originally posted by byu71 View PostI hope not. Too many things I already have to remember not to say in order not to be shunned by the forward and progressive thinking folks.
Like:
Illegals aren't illegals
People who are attracted to the same sex really aren't
Religious extremists are really only extremists, unless they use speech not acceptable to the elite's, then they are religious extremists. I would like to hang out with the really cool and progressive folks, but I am just not learned enough PC wise.

I am asking you to educate me here as I know you will do so without the condescending bull crap. I know you would like to be condescending, but you won't do it.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View Post"Gay" is much better, if only to eschew surplusage. Why use five syllables when one will do?
Gay - My understanding is that can refer to both male's and female's. I assume using the term male and female in this context is not offensive?
Lesbian - My understanding is this term only refers to the female's.
I honestly don't know the accepted term if you are just referring to a Gay who is male.
Can you help me here? I hate being ignorant.

Since you are replying to a post of mine, I would like to make it clear I personally do not use the word alien anymore. The first thing I think of when I say alien is something from another world. Illegals are from this world.Originally posted by imanihonjin View PostIn the tax world "non-resident alien" is a term of art that is defined by the IRS. However, if someone used the term I doubt I would feel the need to correct them.

Wrong. Those of us who get paid by the syllable prefer "same-gender attraction."Originally posted by imanihonjin View PostThis is the best argument.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Singing the song "Lesbian Seagull" in my head helps me keep these terms straight... Maybe it will work for you:
"If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.
"I honestly believe saying someone is a smart lawyer is damning with faint praise. The smartest people become engineers and scientists." -SU.
"Yet I still see wisdom in that which Uncle Ted posts." -creek.

I doubt this would happen because it would require someone to be listening to you.Originally posted by byu71 View PostI am definitely attracted to the opposite sex. Be honest, if I blurted that out someone would accuse me of being anti-gay because I was saying that to show I am somehow superior to those who aren't.

You're slipping. On a scale of 1-10 I would give that a 4 and I am being generous because of your reputation.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI doubt this would happen because it would require someone to be listening to you.
Now if your audience is the JL types, then you probably did score a 9.
