Perhaps yet it produces many fine people despite its limitations. To what do you attribute that?"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."
Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

Actually, I attribute it to the people you reference, and the support and uplift they give one another which could occur just as well outside the LDS Church (in theory). When I say LDS Church I tend to refer to the folks in the COB, primarily the GAs. In general I don't like the GAs and consider them what's wrong with the LDS church. Those insular elderly white men are the LDS Church's biggest problem.Originally posted by Topper View PostPerhaps yet it produces many fine people despite its limitations. You may not agree with them, but they must have done something right to foster a culture that produces good, intelligent and hard-working people. It is too easy to take a binary approach to the leadership. Many. Are locked in their ways, but many are otherwise. They are not as vocal.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostActually, I attribute it to the people you reference, and the support and uplift they give one another which could occur just as well outside the LDS Church (in theory). There are countless wonderful people all over the world who haven't had to put up with the aggravation, lost time, humiliation or expense of being associated with the LDS Church.Originally posted by Topper View PostYou may not agree with them, but they must have done something right to foster a culture that produces good, intelligent and hard-working people. Of course there are.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostThere are countless wonderful people all over the world who haven't had to put up with the aggravation, lost time, humiliation or expense of being associated with the LDS Church.
There are wonderful people who are from the Hasidic communities, devout Islam, Hindu and other somewhat insular communities. Just because you can see faults don't forget to recognize the strengths. You find frustration due to your close ties, but to throw the baby out with the bath water is also unwise."Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

How do you feel about kids playing loud music close by you?Originally posted by KillerDog View PostIf by gun control you mean I should have the right to own and control one, yes. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Actually, this is a complicated issue. I can never make up my mind. I'll probably wait for the LDS Church's pronouncemnt on guns, and then short sell that.Originally posted by KillerDog View PostIf by gun control you mean I should have the right to own and control one, yes. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

I don't disagree with much you've said. Of course, you're still kind of a douche so I want to disagree but there isn't much to disagree with.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostThe LDS Church, as always, is just flat-assed wrong. I've never seen an organization be wrong about everything like the LDS Church. It's wrong about how the world started, how it will end, wrong about Indians and blacks, wrong about women, wrong about gays, wrong about oral sex and so on -- comically, ludicrously wrong about everything.

It is a right, and it is just as important a liberty as others because it applies to each citizen. Responsible gun ownership is valuable and makes us unique. Government control is just a means of eliminating them. Try to own a handgun lawfully in NYC. Can't be done unless you are Cuomo.Originally posted by KillerDog View PostIf by gun control you mean I should have the right to own and control one, yes."Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

What about cigarettes? I thought the WoW said absolutely no cigarettes. I'll give it that much for being right.Originally posted by KillerDog View PostIf by mostly wrong you mean completely wrong, I agree. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.
