No, I think the real problem is that someone is just being a bakayaro today.Originally posted by imanihonjin View PostSo the problem was your lack of precision."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Well, even using your truncated definition, you appear to be missing basic reading comprehension skills, both as it pertains to the definition and as it pertains to Levin's question.Originally posted by imanihonjin View Postsodomy (ˈsɒdəmɪ) n 1. You're a little behind with this essay. Last August Ross Douthat, the NY Times' token socially conservaative columnist, wrote lamenting what you are decrying in a column that I found courageous for its candor and insightful.Originally posted by Levin View PostI'm questioning the intelligence of some who I thought were thoughtful, intelligent people. At least if F. Scott Fitzgeral's test is the test for intelligence: "The test of a first rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the same time, and still retain the ability to function." And by function, I mean the ability to see where those with differing views are coming from, and have enough creativity, or understanding, to not be clouded by prejudice.
. . .
The gay rights movement is the final flowering if the sexual liberalization movement of the 60s.
Or the more simple question: Are those who believe gay sex is a sin, are they bigots?
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/31/op...?smid=pl-share
As Douthat put it, "The conservative argument still has serious exponents, but it’s now chuckled at in courtrooms, dismissed by intellectuals, mocked in the media and (in a sudden, recent rush) abandoned by politicians."
America's turbulant civil rights past and Europe's horrifying race-wars have sensitized us that enlightment to the ages-long plight of an oppressed minority grows impatient with the realm of polite debates. As we debate the oppressed suffer. So pardon gay marriage supporters for turning this into an issue of morality and immorality. I think we learned a lot about the importance of that and how it's done from our religious forebears.
Indeed, how ironic that religious people offer as their sole argument against gay marriage that gay sex is a "sin," yet they bridle at the charge that those who oppose gay marriage on religious grounds is a bigot. Gay marriage supporters are joining the battle on the terms set out by gay marriage opponents. Yes, this is a fight about morality and immorality on a cosmic scale.
So don't go whining when the tide turns in favor of gay marriage supporters as the public begins to regard opposition to gay marriage as a sin (for civil libertarians a sin is to be a bigot). What a delicious irony! Suddenly religious folks want to have a "debate" about what's right and what's wrong!Last edited by SeattleUte; 01-08-2014, 12:24 PM.When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

To all those who think the church ended polygamy, remember that every day there are polygamous sealings done in the temple. WW simply deferred the polygamous marriages among living members."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Truncated? That was one complete definition of the word found on thefreedictionary.com.
Levin's question:
My question:Originally posted by Levin View PostAre those who believe gay sex is a sin, are they bigots?
A definition of sodomy:Originally posted by imanihonjin View PostSo then in your view, if a person believes sodomy is a sin, that makes the believing person a bigot?

Like my buddy Tom said one time when I told him the intellectuals would call him a hick. I think I will go out and buy me 50 of those intellectuals and I will bet they start agreeing with me.

Again, enlighten me. You appear to want to avoid the question that you apparently believe that you have already answered. I will take it that you have decided you weren't actually sure and that you don't want to reanswer given that.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostThe boat.
