CMBF post illustrates how far we are away from living in that world. Let's take his views of bisexuality for example. He thinks being bisexual is entirely based on who you are fucking. If you are a bisexual man fucking a woman, but not fucking a man you aren't really bisexual. If you are a bisexual woman who has a long term relationship with a man you somehow cease to be bisexual. He has completely erased bisexuality.

So if you follow this line of thinking, if you are a heterosexual man who hasn't had sex with a woman, that must mean that you are not really a heterosexual.

The interesting thing is that the same thing happens in the LBGTQ community with bisexuals. You often have bisexuals who have settled into a relationship with an opposite sex partner excluded or erased from the community. Bisexuals can be every bit as marginalized by the community that they own and are a part of. This issue isn't even unique to heterosexuals.
This post illustrates why as a church I'd rather just stop talking about homosexuality. Just freaking let them do what they want, it has zero effect in my life. Can we please stop talking about homosexual sex?

I'd fully support Jay Santos as Prophet. You are absolutely right. The best thing the church could do on this issue is ignore it. Focus on the core teachings of Jesus Christ and the church would become so much better.

Agreed. Also if F word is over used it loses it's shock effect

Wasn't abstaining from homosexual sex a core teaching of Jesus Christ? It sure seems that way given the emphasis of His current church.

I also wish people in this thread would get the LGBTQ letters in the right order

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

When and where did Q get added? Isn't the Q a bit redundant, or does it add some meaning. When will they add P to the litany of letters?

Sure. And just yesterday you were claiming that the church should call them sinners.

Can't wait to see where you are tomorrow!

                Oh brother.

I can't wait for you to actually express an opinion rather than just snipe in a thread. Oh wait, I'm sure that I will be waiting a really long time for that one.

Yes, the Q means something different. While I think that LGBTQ is the most used/accepted now, I'm starting to see more and more of it being LGBTQA+

I don't think using the right terms is all the important. I tend to adopt the brilliant position taken by Patton Oswalt in his recent standup on terms.

I've heard that the Q stands for Questioning. Is that not right? If it is, it would seem to add some value.

It stands for queer, questioning, or both depending on who you ask.

That's funny. I have made thousands of posts about gays, gay rights, etc. My position has been entirely consistent from day one. Back when Prop 8 was a thing and SoCalCoug was out campaigning for it, I was explaining to my family that while I still loved the prophet, I disagreed on that particular issue.

Furthermore, you just praised this post:

which is exactly what I am doing and yet you are whining that I don't express an opinion?

                          • Elton John was supposedly a bisexual in the 70s and 80s, he has only been with dudes for close to 30 years. Is he still a bisexual? To answer this complex question it's important to remember the advice of mpfunk -- the gender of the people you sleep with provides absolutely no evidence of your sexuality. This might be confusing if one googles the definition of sexual orientation, what appears at the top of the page is this:

a person's sexual identity in relation to the gender to which they are attracted; the fact of being heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual.
So, to determine one's sexual orientation, which means basically one's "sexual identity in relation to the gender to which they are attracted," it's apparently totally non-determinative to look at who they actually sleep with, or who they wish they could sleep with in the case of a closeted gay man or woman.

This is an interesting approach to answering tough questions. Here are a couple more tough questions:

                            1. A man uses a gun to rob a bank. Did he commit armed robbery? Assuming that the use of a weapon to take something that is not his by force is irrelevant, what clues can we look to to determine whether he in fact committed this totally confusing crime?

                            2. A man breaks into a house while the owners on vacation. Did he commit burglary? It's important that we look beyond the mere fact that he intended to break into a dwelling that's not his in order to steal things out of there. Burglary isn't merely a) intent to b) break into a dwelling that doesn't belong to you in order to c) steal stuff.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”
