Not only disconcerting, but two faced since I can still agree with any non-members gay marriage and I am still a member in good standing."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Not the way the policy is written. There is nothing in it that says the policy only applies to someone who is a minor when it is instituted. A 45 year old about also have to publicly disavow his gay parent(s).Originally posted by Commando View PostI am inclined to believe the policy is for children. Reaching the age of 18 is one of the prerequisites I guess for someone in that situation. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

This is worse than I thought!!Originally posted by mpfunk View PostActually, it doesn't "get them out of the home." Once you are branded as a child of a gay, you are denied baptism until you are 18 years of age and apparently publicly disavow you gay parent(s). Guess what other kids this prohibits from being baptized, a child born of a man/woman where one of the parents later comes out as a gay and enters into a committed relationship. So basically, if a woman divorces a gay man and has custody of the child and both parents consent to the baptism, the child cannot be baptized until he turns 18 and disowns his gay father.

No! But I can tell you read it based on your response. Here is what I successfully looked up and learned about rimrocking:Originally posted by Topper View PostYou wrote that?

Lol at anyone who thinks this is in the interest of children of gay parents, as if the church has ever put official policies in place to ensure all young converts have a stable family background before they get baptized. This policy has one simple goal but many collateral effects: clearly demarcate gays and allies as apostates so the majority of the church can go along safely believing their doctrine of marriage."...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

This is my favorite post on the topic so far.Originally posted by jay santos View PostThe church is unnecessarily pissing off 80% of the 18-22 aged members, 50% of age 23-69 age members, and 1% of the 70+ members. What benefit do they get from it? I don't see any. When you're getting your ass kicked, it's best to just walk away from the fight.

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.
