We had an office lunch today. I really was surprised to find out that of the 15 people myself and one other were the only ones not to watch the show. I heard several say they don't know why they watch it, it just grabs you. I was really shocked to hear 4 out of the 5 ladies watched the show.

I did remind those in the room who were mormon, TBM or progressive, that this guy (Phil) is an evangelical and evangelicals hate TBM and progressive mormons. I will bet he has said, mormons, then it morphs into polygamy, bygamy, child molestation. Has probably said Joseph Smith and Brighmam Young were pedephiles and mormons don't think for themselves.

As a matter of fact I wouldn't doubt SU gets his stuff from Phil.

It is a repugnant worldview that responds with homosexual behavior as the beginning of sin, drops bestiality next, and then quotes Paul's list of those who won't inherent heaven that includes adulterers, the greedy, slanderers, swindlers, et al. Whether it's a wellspring, a nexus, or one of many foci of sin, the implication is the same. He went to homosexuality first and foremost when questioned about what he found sinful amid the blurring of right and wrong in this day. Among all of the social ills and sins out there, very real and awful things, let's focus on what fills the pews in his preaching--queerfear. This man is no fool, despite the insinuations about his intelligence and education; watch his show, read interviews with him. He's a calculating charismatic alpha mallard.

Gays are the perfect strawman for the Christian preacher. Describe how the world is more evil and getting worse (it is demonstrably not); preach that the End Times will be preceded by times of great upheaval and evil, when people are not embarrassed by their sins. Point out how gays wanting to marry and/or be accepted and not discriminated against is fulfillment of prophecy. Pass the plate. Repeat each Sunday, all while ignoring the elephant in the room.

These guys will end up either on TLC or Discovery. They're both owned by the same group and it doesnt include one of the big Hollywood conglomerates. A&E is 50% owned by Disney and probably had to make this stupid move. If you look at Discovery's different channels, I doubt they'd have much of an issue with these guys.

Maybe people are always wearing it and I am only conscious of it because of the recent ruckus but it sure seemed like a lot of folks were consciously wearing it in support of the Robertsons.
