    I have no idea.

It hasn't helped me and as a selfish bastard, that's what I care about.

I was talking to a self employed friend that said they found that very few, like 0, doctors would accept the Obamacare plans even after Obama promised us we could keep our doctor. They are now in some group (not insurance) were they pay into a pool. It is run by some nonprofit religious group and is very affordable for him. They also have some very high deductible (non Obamacare compliant) insurance plan in case one of their kids gets cancer of something. He was also telling about these apps they use like GoodRX for prescriptions and RediCare for emergency medicine. He was claiming that they are saving a ton of money not having to buy Obamacare compliant insurance. He said that was even after paying the Obamacare “tax”. He is a Democrat but now says he is voting for Drumpf since he now has more money in his pocket.

Obamacare did help a lot of people. And I think that one thing most everyone could agree with is that health care, as a rule, is a complete mess and needs some work.

The problem with Obamacare - from my perspective - is that it is another example of once again rushing in to get something (ANYTHING) passed in such a rush that we ended up with an amalgam of crap thrown into the blender and all mixed together - full of promises that were all broken. We should've known it would be exactly that when we were told that we needed to pass it in order to see what was in it. How many pieces of legislation can you support sight unseen?

For me - Obama care resulted in health care costs, which were already increasing annually, increasing at double the rate they had been. With less coverage and fewer providers. I'm sure Obamacare helped a bunch of people. But what is often ignored is that it hurt a bunch of people too.

Obamacare has been complete trainwreck. It has hurt far more people than it has helped, and in terms of economic effect, the net cost has outpaced the net benefit by multiple orders of magnitude. I don't have time to pull up all the data, but it exists, and it's astounding. That it hasn't been repealed is a sad example of how our politicians are owned by the insurance companies.

I find my Obamacare insurance policy is twice as helpful and useful. And I'm paying more than twice as much for it.

The federal government tried to bait and switch Health Insurers and they got caught and after 6 years in court they have to pay. Essentially, when obamacare was passed the government knew there was a lot of pent up demand of people who didnt have insurance but were going to get it when the ACA went live. Most insurers were going to sit it out. So the feds decided to entice insurers to get in the market. They were going to do this by promising that if you lost money the Feds would make you whole. They planned on paying this because they figured everyone would join the market and those that made money would pay for those who didnt. Once the health insurers were assured of not losing their shirts on the population only some still went in. There werent enough winners to make up for the losers so the Government tried to back out. Several of the big insurers took them to court and won.

Recently connected to a guy named Dutch Rojas in LinkedIn. He is a Healthcare entrepreneur. Mainly wanted to gain more knowledge in the healthcare industry outside of my purview.

His videos are interesting and would love to hear from medical professionals on his advice and if he is blowing smoke or have true knowledge and expertise in the healthcare industry.

see his recent post about Obamacare and the issues it has with cutting independent physicians and their ability to expand in meaningful ways. He throws out a lot of ideas but unsure how accurate or real they are. As well as his conmplaints.

                            Quote from Dutch Rojas:

Every hospital in America is being forced to publish prices.

Most people hear that and think:
                            “Cool. Patients can shop now.”

That’s not the real story. Here’s the Dutch insight…

Healthcare is crossing a line it has never crossed before:

                            It’s becoming computable.

That matters far more to entrepreneurs and data scientists than to patients.

Because once prices exist, a chain reaction starts:

                            • Markets form
                            • Benchmarks emerge
                            • Arbitrage appears
                            • Bundles can be built
                            • Risk can be priced
                            • Forward contracts become possible (yes, my SurgeryFutures)

This is how every modern industry was rebuilt.

                            Not with speeches.
                            With data.

This is what incumbents are actually afraid of.

                            They never feared patients.

                            They fear:
                            • Models
                            • Comparisons
                            • Graphs
                            • Rankings
                            • Dashboards that ask: “Why is this 20x more expensive?”

                            Opacity protected margins.
                            Data destroys them.

                            The Dutch Line:

                            Price transparency isn’t a “patient-first” policy.

                            It’s an infrastructure shift.

And when infrastructure changes, power follows.

                            Healthcare just crossed that line…

Right, because what healthcare really needs is higher costs and fewer providers and massive nonprofits like United Healthcare, Molina, Centene, Anthem, Cigna creating the costs. Brilliant plan!
