    • In perhaps the most dramatic anti-business move yet by those wacky commies in Kalifornia, Los Angeles recently passed a law requiring all actors in porn flicks to wear condoms. The multi-billion dollar porn industry is threatening to pack up and move to another state. Adios dinero.

El Dude, you're overstating it a bit. The requirement is only for acts that involve anal or vaginal penetration (at least according to your linked article). I think we can all rest easy, folks.

That's actually one industry I'd be happy to see move to Texas. No condom law, no income tax, guys and gals! It's a no-brainer!

I wonder what states will go after their business. I'm putting my money on Nevada.

Yep. This is how Vegas breaks out of their economic slump.

                • One of the analyst's for a money manager I deal with here in SLC said if Utah secedes from the Union he is heading to California.

I asked if he was crazy and he said no. He will go to Southern California, lay on the beach and surf and collect unemployment or whatever other goodies California hands out.

My son (college age) says that after the election a bunch of his FB friends said that they wanted to move to Canada because America is becoming too liberal. One of them said she was going to move to Italy. Knuckleheads.

                    • The porn industry hub will never leave SoCal because SoCal is where aspiring actresses and models go to break into real Hollywood movies or television. When that dream dies, they do porn. These companies will simply start shooting in Ventura County or Riverside County, while keeping their business based in the Valley.

The gal with Massage Envy I go to is really sharp. I am saddened because she is moving onto another job.

As sharp as she is it surprises me how little she knows about economics. She knows enough to know that redistribution of wealth doesn't sound cool.

Over the last year she has told me about her lazy brother in law. Her sister works full time and he collects unemployment, but doesn't want to ever go back to work.

He wants to stay home, tend the kid and read philosophy. She said he came over Sunday night to a family get together and was thrilled Obama won.

Secession is nothing... Texas wants to nullify the TSA and NDAA:

Lawmakers in Texas are set to respond to a growing wave of discontent with federal authority, as they look set to consider a pair of bills that will set the state on a collision course with Washington.

                            Let the nullification begin

                            [...]

Earlier this week, Rep. David Simpson, R-Longwood, pre-filed a measure called "The Texas Travel Freedom Act," or H.B. 80, which would make it a criminal act to intentionally touch "the anus, breast, buttocks, or sexual organ of the other person, including touching through clothing," without probable cause, in the process of allowing someone access to public transportation.

In other words, the bill is aimed at ending pointless, embarrassing and invasive pat downs of travelers by the federal Transportation Security Administration, among others.

The measure also forbids removing a child under the age of 18 from the physical custody or control of a parent or guardian.

"If you walk up to somebody and grab their crotch out on the street, it will land you in jail. Blue uniforms and federal badges don't grant some goon the power to sexually assault you, or at least they shouldn't. A person doesn't forfeit her or his personal dignity or Fourth Amendment protections with the purchase of an airline ticket," said Tenth Amendment Center communications director Mike Maharrey.

                            [...]

The latter bill also provides for criminal penalties against any outside authority attempting to detain persons within the boundaries of Texas without due process under the NDAA. If passed, the bill would effectively nullify indefinite federal detention in the state of Texas, the center said, noting that the bills appear to be aimed at the Obama administration in particular.

                            • California is near the top of "Forbes Death Spiral States"...

Two factors determine whether a state makes this elite list of fiscal hellholes. The first is whether it has more takers than makers. A taker is someone who draws money from the government, as an employee, pensioner or welfare recipient. A maker is someone gainfully employed in the private sector.

Let us give those takers the benefit of our sympathy and assume that every single one of them is a deserving soul. This person is either genuinely needy or a dedicated public servant or the recipient of a well-earned pension.

But what happens when these needy types outnumber the providers? Taxes get too high. Prosperous citizens decamp. Employers decamp. That just makes matters worse for the taxpayers left behind.

Let’s say you are a software entrepreneur with 100 on your payroll. If you stay in San Francisco, your crew will support 139 takers. In Texas, they would support only 82. Austin looks very attractive.
Only New Mexico and Mississippi ranks higher than California with 1.49 and 1.53 takers for every maker ratio, respectively. California's ratio is 1.39.
