I agree with you that Romney didn't get the respect or support he deserved. Too bad; both parties could clearly benefit from having somebody who knows anything about negotiating, coordinating, managing, striking deals, or even reading a ledger. No, it appears that Americans on the left and right are getting what they deserve.

House Republican leaders had hoped they’d found popular changes that would be able to win widespread support among the GOP and also earn backing from some Democrats who want to distance themselves from Obamacare.


Key among those changes was the plan to make Mr. Obama, Mr. Biden and their Cabinet officials have to participate in the health exchanges, without government subsidies, the same as many other Americans.


“If Obamacare is good for members of Congress, then it’s good for the president,” said Rep. Darrell Issa, California Republican.

“We felt blindsided,” Mr. Reid said.


He and Mr. McConnell have been negotiating since Saturday, but with no agreement reached yet, and the outlines of what they are discussing falls far short of what House Republicans say they can accept, which is why Mr. Boehner proposed his own alternative.


Mr. Reid personally attacked Mr. Boehner, saying he is kowtowing to “extreme” elements of the GOP in order to maintain his speakership.


“I am very disappointed in John Boehner, who once again tried to preserve his role at the expense of the country,” Mr. Reid said.

That proposal didn't die because of Dems. It died because the House Republicans didn't support it. Even the WSJ is realizing who is at fault for this mess.

We can argue about all if those reasons but mine of them have anything to do with our manufactured crisis. We could deal with all of those things without this crisis. Even Boehner knows that. Otherwise, why offer to end the crisis if Congressional staff gets subsidies removed? Removing the subsidies isn't helping our debt situation at all but somehow that's the price Republicans want to extract for this lunacy?

Edit: Hmm... Dems wanted to give their unions voters a break:

House Republicans objected to the delay in the tax because unions supported the delay for their own insurance plans, but that was short-sighted. Senate Democrats were willing to delay the tax for a year to please labor and in return agree to better income verification for Americans who apply for ObamaCare subsidies. So out of political pique, House Republicans opposed two ways to make ObamaCare less destructive. Senate Republicans should try to retain it in their compromise.

They are currently destroying the Republican Party from the inside out (who would have guessed...). They aren't satisfied with wrecking just a party and have a larger target now.

Yeah, perhaps we could have left the House, a filibuster proof Senate, and the Presidency in the hands of Pelosi, Reid, and Obama so that we could have crap legislation like Obamacare rammed down our throats and create more and more piles of debt. That would have been equally awesome.

I don't know if it's more absurd we really are at this point or if otherwise intelligent people like Moliere still can't realize we are. Lasting harm has already been done. Now it's just a matter of how deep the harm will go.

Really, you are questionning Moliere here as if your IQ when it comes to economics is above 99? If I were you I would stick to the issues like helping the poor, immigration reform and other area's that do not require an understanding of economics.
