Actually, Cruz is smart unless both Princeton and Harvard are push over schools... I am kind of thinking it is the latter.
Cruz graduated cum laude from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs in 1992. While at Princeton, he competed for the American Whig-Cliosophic Society's Debate Panel and won the top speaker award at both the 1992 U.S. National Debating Championship and the 1992 North American Debating Championship. In 1992, he was named U.S. National Speaker of the Year and Team of the Year (with his debate partner, David Panton). Cruz was also a semi-finalist at the 1995 World Universities Debating Championship.

Cruz's senior thesis on the separation of powers, titled "Clipping the Wings of Angels," draws its inspiration from a passage attributed to President James Madison: "If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary." Cruz argued that the drafters of the Constitution intended to protect the rights of their constituents, and the last two items in the Bill of Rights offered an explicit stop against an all-powerful state. Cruz wrote: "They simply do so from different directions. The Tenth stops new powers, and the Ninth fortifies all other rights, or non-powers."

After graduating from Princeton, Cruz attended Harvard Law School, graduating magna cum laude in 1995 with a Juris Doctor. While at Harvard Law, Cruz was a primary editor of the Harvard Law Review, and executive editor of the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy, and a founding editor of the Harvard Latino Law Review. Referring to Cruz's time as a student at Harvard Law, Professor Alan Dershowitz said, "Cruz was off-the-charts brilliant." At Harvard Law, Cruz was a John M. Olin Fellow in Law and Economics.

Now, if someone said that about him at BYU it would mean something.

If this was as important as they claim it was, they would be filibustering the bill ... but of course they won't because they have known all along that this was nothing but a horse and pony show designed to get their Tea Party base to give them a bunch of money. They are no different than any other politician except they have the audacity to nearly push the country off a cliff in order to fill their pockets with campaign donations. I am no fan of Obamacare, but this stunt they pulled was a complete joke. I feel sorry for the people that bought their bullshit and gave them money to help sustain this ludicrous cause. I just hope enough people show up at the caucuses next time Lee is up for reelection to get him out of there. As much as I respect his father, he has been a complete clown in the Senate.

Now Mike Lee, on the other hand, seems like a very smart guy... I don't know how he got wrapped up with that tea party. I am guessing maybe drugs.
After graduating from Timpview High School (Provo, Utah) in 1989, Lee attended Brigham Young University as an undergraduate student, receiving a B.S. in Political Science in 1994. He served as the President of BYUSA, a prominent student service organization,[citation needed] and as Student Body President, during the 1993–1994 school year. He graduated from BYU's J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1997.
        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Lee_(U.S._politician)

Mike even hung out with the right people in his youth...
Growing up Lee went to school with Senator Strom Thurmond's daughter and lived three doors down from Senator Robert Byrd. He was friends with Harry Reid's son Josh. Senator Reid was the Lees' home teacher. Lee recalls as a child how Senator Reid once locked him and Josh in their garage as a practical joke.
Locking kids in the garage is a practical joke? In Texas that would be considered child abuse on most days.

After all the bickering and grandstanding, the billions lost and trust squandered, it was much ado about nothing.
Where's calicoug to tell us just how close we were to defaulting on our debt?

I don't know about calicoug, but on KSL this morning whoever the national person is that they had reporting made some comment about this passing that was along the lines of they must've decided on a compromise out of fear of returning to bad economic times. I thought that was interesting.

You are twisting the meaning of that statement. Perhaps you didn't read the full article.

                • So they cancelled all our leave when the government was shut-down. Now that the government's up and running, I can't get a hold of anyone because they're all on leave!

                  • Now that it is temporarily over, the shut down and the impending doom of the world because of the debt ceiling, I am left to wonder who I expect to lead going forward.

Ted Cruz and Mike Lee, LOL. So there is John McCain and the more practical republicans? One thing the far right has right is that guys like McCain are as bad as the dems when it comes to the government spending us into more and more debt. Boehner, well I actually like the guy, but I seem to be the only one that likes him enough to listen to him.

President Obama, Harry Reid, Nanci Pelosi and the rest of that crowd. I can't even do a LOL on them because they scare me too much with where they would like to take us. They are the we can't negotiate because, "you have a gun to our head crowd". Using that as a metaphor only, I think the only chance you could have negotiating with them is if you had the so called gun to their heads. They are the scariest of people to deal with. They tell you they want to work with you but all the while they want to stick a knife in your back, metaphorically speaking.

Oh and will someone explain to me why if the republicans have been beaten up so badly why Cory Booker only won by about 12 points in one of the most democrat states in the Union. I mean a tea party conservative got 44% of the vote. Heck national polls tell us the tea party only has 21% approval and the guy get 44% in NEW JERSEY. I wonder how many MSM outlets will give more than 10 seconds to commenting on this? I can't wait for Cali's explanation for this, it ought to be good.

Really, you are claiming New Jersey is not a so called blue state? At least you have provided me with some new information, Bob Menendez is a republican. Oh wait, it is a MSNBC gotcha, you were counting the temporary Senator Gov. Christie appointed who is now out with Booker in.

You remind me of the guy, MSNBC financial expert, who came on MSNBC this morning to explain the harm of the shutdown. He talked about how interest rates have gone up and hurt us.

Let's see, 10 year treasury went up to 3% around the first of September. They then fell back to 2.60%, then bounced all the way up to 2.72% and are back today 2.62%. I don't know if the lousy jobs report had anything to do with rates falling today or the shutdown over. What is your guess. I mean your guess if you weren't trying to spin someone.
