The IRS gives a verification to the Loan Processors that you are who you claim to be. There is a form that you fill out when you are buying a house.

They issue a verification to be put into the underwriting file. Happens on every home loan.

    Currently not happening.

You are right, "most" normal people haven't. On the other hand it is disruptive enough that you wouldn't want to claim that this proves you don't need the people who aren't working right now with the government now at it's current size. My understanding this is really disruptive to the mortgage industry, even disruptive to those who work in the bail bond business. Of course you have the tourist trade.

When only 15% of the government is shut down and it ends up being as disruptive as those on the left claim, perhaps that is evidence the government is too big.

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz says he won't delay a vote on bipartisan budget deal.

I would personally like to thank Ted Cruz, Harry Reid and President Obama for giving Americans a chance to buy into the market at lower prices over the last few weeks.

            • I think it does demonstrate that you could cut 15% of the government spending and employment and not notice much difference. You probably wouldn't eliminate all the same people that are furloughed, I'd move a lot of the reductions to military, for example. One congress-person had a great idea, I thought. eliminate the debt ceiling as Obama wants. But replace it with the following rule: if congress doesn't pass a budget, then automatic spending reductions of 1% over the previous year are instituted. An additional 1% gets cut every 90 days that no budget is passed. Simple.

A friend of mine not only closed on a house during the shutdown, but also sold his house last week. I wonder how he circumvented this whole thing that is causing you an issue?

I know a couple of people who can't close due to the shutdown.

Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

That joke is making the rounds. It should be on Jay Leno by next week.

Cruz is the male Sarah Palin. I see several failed reality shows in his future.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
