FOS
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

That is what I'm thinking. What percentage of active boy scout troops are LDS? I still won't donate to FOS.Originally posted by Eddie View PostIt does make me curious how the LDS church would respond if BSA changed their policy.
Is BSA weighing their options between the financial support of businesses like UPS and that of churches like the LDS among others?

what is stupid is that if there were such a thing as an active, openly gay LDS boy, you know he'd be expected to participate in scouts. The church wouldn't prevent or discourage him from attending his quorum activities.Originally posted by Eddie View PostIt does make me curious how the LDS church would respond if BSA changed their policy.

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

Yep. I will gladly donate money for scouts in my ward to go to camp if they can't cover it. I'll give them all sorts of jobs to do: yardwork, cleaning, etc. if they are required to earn that money, but I don't want to donate to someone's salary increase.Originally posted by pellegrino View Postthe money doesn't go to scouts.

Yeah. What I don't get is that BSA seems OK with gays as long as they don't tell anyone. It is just the openly gay boys who aren't allowed. But that doesn't mean there aren't already gays in the BSA.Originally posted by pellegrino View Postwhat is stupid is that if there were such a thing as an active, openly gay LDS boy, you know he'd be expected to participate in scouts.
