After the press and the Clinton machine got done with Romney, I think that race would be a toss up.

I don't particularly like Hillary but I've seen nothing that makes me think she is Nixon.

I thought about this assertion last night. I wonder if it is true? It is absolutely true in the sense that HRC has never been president so nothing she has done to this point has sullied the office of the president. OTOH, I am not sure that the gravity of the offenses charged against her aren't worse than those against Nixon. Nixon engaged in and directed illegal actions to support his CREEP. But I am not aware (and maybe I just don't remember as I was fairly young when it all happened) that he was otherwise ever accused of being disloyal to the country's interests in favor of his own. In fact, his dealings with foreign interests are really his redeeming quality.

HRC and her husband have received MILLIONS of dollars and amassed enormous amounts of personal wealth by trading their influence. This includes trading her influence when she was Secretary of State, which places her in position of having used her influence to advance the interests of other nations. Now one might argue that she only really did this when the foreign interests also aligned with the United States' interests, but that is beside the point, as she still put herself in a position of being beholden to foreign interests in a direct but non-public way all while she held a public position of great importance. So is this worse than Nixon? It is pretty bad, IMO, and if she does anything like this as president, it would easily be as bad or worse.

It also seems very unlikely that she will get into the white house and suddenly stop operating this way. The Clintons have a pattern of conduct going back to their law practices in Little Rock that is so deeply ingrained it is hard to imagine she will suddenly become lily white, especially given that in a couple of years the re-election drums will start beating for her. Make no mistake, she is corrupt and in a way that is as bad or worse than any of those around her. This is not politics as usual; this is politics in the most cynical and self-serving way possible. This is HRC treating the state department like Huey Long treated Lousisiana. Almost any serious candidate would be better than her. Trump, sadly, is just not a serious candidate.
