Mulling this over a bit, I still assume this is TIC. But already having a few strikes against me (casual BYU sports fan, Sox and Patriots fan, non-bitter apostate), I worry about when I'm not ignored and receive some push back. So let the record state that as of 4 years ago I was a semi-reliable GOP voter and I considered myself right of center. I know I've been banging the 'GOP must reform itself' drum pretty loudly here, but it is only because I want to have a reason to consider voting republican again in the future. I suspect that it will be awhile before that happens.
