Maybe we should have a whole separate thread for the last minute fearmongering stuff?
Yea, I think the Dow hit 17,100 and then went up to 18,600. Just my personal opinion after watching this daily for over 34 years, no one can call the short term on a consitent basis and no one really knows what a Trump or Hillary Presidency will do to the market. Fearmongering is stupid, but a lot of the educated fall for it.

So what happens if the Utahns don't do their part and vote McMullin? We're screwed!

          • How is Johnson polling in New Mexico? How likely is it for McMullin to carry Utah and Johnson to carry New Mexico? That would affect the 270 math for the major party candidates.

Johnson is not going to take New Mexico. Last poll I saw was Clinton 45 Trump 40 and Johnson 9.

Must have been a crappy governor or voters in New Mexico do not find Trump and Hillary as disgusting as voters in Utah.

Talked to an older guy, was a delegate in either 76 or 80 for Carter in Nevada, would have been early 30s at that point, and he's voting for McMullin. He's a mormon guy, in-laws with a GA (one that everyone would absolutely know) and he hates the Republican party. Highly anecdotal of course, but to the extent active Mormon democrats exist in Utah, it seems like some of them are voting for McMullin. A lot of them might be turned off by Hillary, just like a lot of mormon Republicans are turned off by Trump.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

                  • Every time I listen to a McMullin interview, I'm impressed and proud that I'm voting for him. Can't decide if my admiration is due to his intelligence and wisdom or the fact that he seems to take every opportunity to remind everyone how pathetic Clinton and Trump are.

I have to agree, he interviews well. Like you, I don't know how much of that is due to low expectations given the current political climate or because he really is bright. Having said that, it's difficult for me to fully support the guy on the basis of his resume. He may have some interesting stories to tell as a CIA operative, but I'm not sure that gives him sufficient experience to run government.

Mrs. NWC is sufficiently impressed, however, and she wrote his name in.

Barack Obama was a Senator of little note for a couple years and then started running for President. Before he was a Senator, he was a state legislator with no record or accomplishments.

Look at the mess that Hillary Clinton created at State. Look how she has handled this email mess. Then there is the WSJ story about how there has been an ongoing FBI investigation into the Clinton Foundation that the DoJ has been doing there best to block. The FBI requested Clinton Foundation emails/records from the EDNY US Attorneys office and they told the FBI to jump in the lake. Do you know who ran the EDNY's office for around 15 years prior to being promoted a couple years back? Also, who promoted that person to US Attorney back in 1999?

                        • Just saw the name Nixon. Poor guy. If he was a democrat and in todays time, he would have survived Watergate. Also Kennedy wouldn't have had to keep his womanizing secret.

Calm down. I can criticize a politician (do we even call McMullin that?) without being compelled a la '71 and UT to give equal criticism to the opponent. And you can too.
