I wasn't ing about that. I was ing in response to this, suggesting Texas' system would fit the rest of America:

We don't have an income tax in Texas... makes sense to me.

Seems like I'm already being "punished" for producing more under the current system. The more I make, the more I pay!

          • The US has the most progressive income tax in the world. With the rates that were passed a few years ago, the rich are already taxed plenty. The real problem is the Bush tax cuts cut too many people out of the system -- more people should be paying at least a little tax. It would also hopefully make more people thoughtful about how the government spends money. But who am I kidding?
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Or a single rate tax which has minimal progressivism, but aims to be fair across the board.

The progressive income tax is a double penalty for being productive, and too much income encourages state governments to overspend.

Precisely. Our current federal income tax system is a progressive income tax and I agree with you.

It is especially true for those of us who are only indirect beneficiaries of government, as opposed to direct beneficiaries. If you are middle class or upper middle class you contribute the lion's share, yet reap the minimal benefit. A single rate tax is the only path to fairness. Bring back Steve Forbes!

Comey was in a damned if you do or damned if you do not situation. If he had failed to disclose it, he could have considered in contempt of Congress. It was simply an effort at self-preservation.

Indirect. I am not employed by government, no do I receive no payments from government.

An attorney is an indirect beneficiary.

                              • The polls are tightening up and the media is definitely reporting that to drum up excitement and audience for election coverage. However, looking at the current map Clinton only needs 7 more electoral votes and it would seem unlikely at this point that Trump would take every single state in gray, especially considering all the votes already cast in early voting in many swing states while Trump's numbers were at their lowest point.
