I have not followed Trump closely in any detail. However, isn't his crime not to pander to the vote, but to refuse to condemn them?"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."
Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

Now the Wall Street Journal is calling out Trump as a fascist and comparing him to Mussolini.

Sheesh. What an election cycle."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Well, technically neither is a crime per se, but I don't want a candidate who does either. That's some bottom of the barrel stuff.Originally posted by Topper View PostI have not followed Trump closely in any detail. I'll make his whole brand go under,"

I dont know of any serious politician in a serious country that wants to ban all muslim immigration or visits in any countryOriginally posted by Topper View PostThere are numerous candidates and parties in the world which are against the free flowing immigration, in almost every European nation. Being anti-Muslim or anti-immigrant doesn't make one wanting to engage in the die Endloesung. If you are stating, anybody who espouses an anti-immigrant policy is comparable to Hitler, I get your drift, but I believe it is sloppy.

He is getting a lot more than the white supremecist vote. He is finding a nerve with many folks who think reading about Hillary Clinton campaigning with Michael Brown's mother is crazy. There are a lot of people who find it troubling that Bernie Sanders would say white people do not understand poverty. The left is pandering to these movements and many people who are not racists recognize it and find Trump's perspective comforting. It is easy to dismiss these folks as being crotchety old white people just bitter that the new diverse America is coming but I think many of them are fine with diversity, they are not fine with movements based around arguments being made about the injustice to a dumb kid attacking a cop and being shot as a result. When Ferguson went down I said something about the lack of wisdom or vetting the truth about the stories that made the chosen martyrs, and how as the truth comes out it delegitimizes even the legitimate arguments about the historical impact of slavery and racism. Many of these might be blue collar white folks, but I think that is only the base. They were the first to buy in because between the left telling them foreigners are your enemy through outsourcing and the right telling them illegals are your enemy here because they will do your menial jobs cheaper, they were without a home. But I think Trump is finding a nerve and being a voice of reason, in this area as in many areas he is not a voice of reason, in a season of crazy political movements and the efforts from politicians on the left to pander to those movements.Originally posted by Commando View PostSpeaking of hyperbole-- I think the purpose is to merely brand someone as fascist and undeserving of the highest office in the land. In this case, it's spot-on. Maybe he should be compared to David Duke? Well since Trump apparently doesn't even know who that is, we'll go with a more well-known white supremacist.
And why shouldn't it stick? He's the one literally pandering for the white supremacist vote!! WTF!
I also think Trump panders to crazy right wing movements but the depth and breadth of the support he is finding indicates he has tapped into something with much more widespread appeal. Part of the explanation of Trump mania has been in response to these crazy movements and their inability to distinguish between legitimate examples of racism/discrimination with events where racism or discrimination was not the cause. In my opinion these movements are totally dedicated to identity politics and are more than willing to sacrifice honesty and that which I think is the American ideal, subordination of identity to a larger American culture that values meritocracy and freedom regardless of your identity, in order to foment the masses of their specific identity to some action.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

Just on the off chance that we needed another data point about Ted Cruz:
I was talking to a woman who works on my team yesterday. Her brother is some hotshot hedge fund guy in NYC, who went to school with Ted Cruz. According to him, Ted is one of the biggest jerks he has ever known (though he has good things to say about his wife). The whole family is pretty conservative, but will absolutely not vote for him in the primaries. She did say that they will hold their noses and vote for him in the general election due to who he will be running against.
Have we met anyone yet who likes Ted as a person?

I won't vote for Ted (if I were to actually vote) because he is super creepy. If he/she can do the job well, I don't really care if nobody likes the president as a person.Originally posted by Clark Addison View PostJust on the off chance that we needed another data point about Ted Cruz:

Because we are talking about Cruz and I am not sure if this bad lip reading has been posted, I post this for everyone's enjoyment. IMO, this is one of the better bad lip readings, if not the best.

The tax director at my company is giving hints that he likes trump. For reference sake, he's a white male in his late 50s or early 60s"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I went to a Trump rally a few months ago and while not proportionate to the general population there were plenty of minority supporters in the crowd. I was surprised, but I guess there are idiots from all parts of our society.Originally posted by Moliere View PostThe tax director at my company is giving hints that he likes trump.
