Cruz did well tonight, though I heard somewhere that out of the four states today, only one was a primary (Louisiana). The other three were caucuses, which according to the 'experts' favors non-crazy contenders. A quick look at the upcoming states shows most are primaries. When low-information voters have the privacy of a primary, they will probably still vote for Trump...
Trump should have won LA by a lot more than four points. Something is going on. In every state where trump was way ahead a couple of weeks ago he has still been winning on election day but by pretty close.. I haven't seen any recent polls in florida. Polls older than a week have proven to be unreliable

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

          • Donald Trump answers the question: What is 2+2?

"I have to say a lot of people have been asking this question. No, really. A lot of people come up to me and they ask me. They say, 'What's 2+2'? And I tell them look, we know what 2+2 is. We've had almost eight years of the worst kind of math you can imagine. Oh my God, I can't believe it. Addition and subtraction of the 1s the 2s and the 3s. It's terrible. It's just terrible. Look, if you want to know what 2+2 is, do you want to know what 2+2 is? I'll tell you. First of all the number 2, by the way, I love the number 2. It's probably my favorite number, no it is my favorite number. You know what, it's probably more like the number two but with a lot of zeros behind it. A lot. If I'm being honest, I mean, if I'm being honest. I like a lot of zeros. Except for Marco Rubio, now he's a zero that I don't like. Though, I probably shouldn't say that. He's a nice guy but he's like, '10101000101,' on and on, like that. He's like a computer! You know what I mean? He's like a computer. I don't know. I mean, you know. So, we have all these numbers, and we can add them and subtract them and add them. TIMES them even. Did you know that? We can times them OR divide them, they don't tell you that, and I'll tell you, no one is better at the order of operations than me. You wouldn't believe it. So, we're gonna be the best on 2+2, believe me."

            • If Cruz is smart he'll go all out anti-Rubio in Florida, get Rubio to drop out. Rubio's potential voters might actually listen to and be influenced by negative ads. Then once Rubio drops out and it's just Cruz or Trump then Cruz has a chance everywhere else.

Rubio is the short stack at the poker table -- makes sense to go after him I think and try to make it a head-to-head contest.

I can't believe Cruz as the next President is best-case scenario now. Sheesh.

There is movement away from crazy, yes. I just wonder if it's too late.

He's already doing it. He opened up 10 campaign offices in Florida to compete in a state that he will never win. It's calculated to force Rubio out. It's a smart move, but Rubio has a better chance to compete in the less evangelical states that are coming up than Cruz. But maybe people are warming up to anybody but Drumpf.

                  • From FB.

I've decided to start answering all questions in the way of Donald Trump.

"Sarah, what are your plans for the weekend?"
Well let me just start by saying that I have enormous respect for you. You're a great person and we always get along beautifully. I WILL do something this weekend and it's going to be huge. It's going to be great. It's going to be way better than anything you're going to do. In fact, it'll be the best thing anyone has ever done. I've looked at some polls and they all agree with me. I'm winning in every category. Everybody loves me.

"But didn't you say the other day that you were just going to paint your nails and watch Battlestar Galactica?"
I did not say that. You are the biggest liar I've ever met. A really dirty liar. I've actually heard people call you some truly terrible names but I won't do that because that would be rude. But you're a basket case. Although, I am the best at painting nails. Way better than anyone else. And I'm going to cut the best deal on nail polish you've ever seen in your life. Ulta is going to lose. I'm going to beat them. And I am very pro Battlestar Galactica. More so than anyone else ever. Nobody knows Battlestar Galactica like I do. Commander Adama has personally endorsed me. I've been a big contributor to that show and I've won many, many awards. If you look at the polls you will see that I have done very well with every category, even the Cylons. The Cylons love me. I'm actually going to negotiate a deal between the Twelve Colonies and the Cylons. I am the best.

                    "..."

                          • Steve Hayes wrote a good Never Trump piece this week that sums up my feelings as a conservative pretty well.

                            http://www.weeklystandard.com/no-trump/article/2001405

I consider myself a conservative with a strong libertarian streak. I'm for gay marriage, I'm deeply skeptical of paternalistic regulation, and I believe the tax code needs a radical overhaul—a national sales tax would be my preference. But I care most about the two issues that directly threaten the continued viability of the American experiment: national security and the debt. My views on individual politicians are shaped mainly by their positions on protecting the country and reforming entitlements. Accordingly, the most promising policy development over the past decade was Paul's Ryan victory over the GOP establishment and its determined opposition to entitlement reform and the most worrisome was Barack Obama's abandonment of the war against the global jihadist movement.

A Trump presidency would be disastrous on both scores. Trump opposes entitlement reform, and it's unclear whether he even understands the central role entitlements play in our mounting debt. Trump claims Republicans lost the presidential election in 2012 because of Ryan's reforms. "He represented cutting entitlements," Trump said last month, pointing to the selection of Ryan by Mitt Romney as "the end of the campaign." Trump has said repeatedly that he won't touch entitlements. "The only one that's not going to cut is me."

On national security, Trump says he'll be strong and frequently pronounces himself "militaristic." But he doesn't seem to have even a newspaper reader's familiarity with the pressing issues of the day. He was nonplussed by a reference to the "nuclear triad"; he confused Iran's Quds Force and the Kurds; he didn't know the difference between Hamas and Hezbollah. The ignorance would be less worrisome if his instincts weren't terrifying. He's praised authoritarians for their strength, whether Vladimir Putin for killing journalists and political opponents or the Chinese government for the massacre it perpetrated in Tiananmen Square.

To the extent he articulates policies, he seems to be an odd mix of third-world despot and naïve pacifist. He favors torture as opposed to the enhanced interrogation techniques of the previous administration—for punitive reasons—and he has called for targeting the families of America's enemies and confiscating the oil in Iraq. But he has waffled on whether the United States should be fighting ISIS at all and has said he wouldn't rip up the Iran nuclear deal.
He then goes on to discuss all the ugly bullying by Trump in this campaign; from disparaging a POW's sacrifice, to mocking a reporter's disability, to demeaning women who have challenged him in the campaign, I don't think we've had a more disgusting candidate who had a realistic shot at a major party's nomination. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so depressing.

I'm starting to think it's not a coincidence that Romney hammered Trump and that Rubio got in the gutter and and also went after him. Romio was doing the heavy lifting while Cruz was mostly able to stay above the fray. Rubio knows he's got no shot so he might as well help nuke The Donald.
