"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. One can only hope the predictable happens.

Trump is smarter than we give him credit for, as he has tapped into the authoritarianism dynamic that pops up when people are afraid of something. He is just very vile to use that technique.
That's a ridiculous statement. Putin bombed an apartment complex in his own country to drive up support for his intervention in Chechnya, he invaded his neighboring country, bankrolls fascist European political parties, kills journalists and political challengers and dissidents, chums around with North Korea, institutionalizes the oppression of Gay Russians. Yeah, Hillary would be so much worse than that.

              • Trump drops out of the Fox News debate. At first I thought, what a dumb idea. Then I realized that it's Trump and his ratings are bound to go even higher as this is another publicity stunt to keep his name in the conversation instead of getting lost among the other 12 or so candidates.

I think it's a bit of desperation because his team feels Iowa slipping away. As loony as Cruz is, he looks like freaking Abraham Lincoln standing next to Trump in a debate. Pulling out is a calculated risk that being seen as dodging will do less damage than being on stage being compared to a surging candidate who handles himself very well in a debate situation.

Edit: This post shows how much I pay attention. Apparently Trump surged ahead in Iowa again in the last few days.

So if Cruz looks like Abraham Lincoln standing next to Trump then does that make Trump look like Stephen Douglas standing next to Cruz?

Less than an hour after Trump's campaign told reporters the front-runner will skip Thursday's GOP debate, Cruz, looking to have his moment with Trump, suggested to a crowd in Fairfield, Iowa, that "Donald is a fragile soul" and is "scared to face Megyn Kelly" — the FOX News moderator that riled Trump in the first Republican debate back in August.

"We'll do 90 minutes, Lincoln-Douglas, mano-a-mano, Donald and me," Cruz said. "He can lay out his vision for this country, and I can lay out my vision for this country in front of the men and women of Iowa."

This had to involve retyping the information from one system to another or from screenshots taken with a cell phone camera. Since a lot of this was pre-Snowden controls may have been a little more loose than they are now, but the point is that these guys are real fuckers who don't take their clearance obligations seriously.
This. I guess this all gets caught up in the minutia, because who really wants to spend too much time wading through different classifications and what they mean about the sources and methods and how such revelations could affect our ability to gather intelligence in the future and thus, our national security. Because that doesn't fit well into a tweet or vine or 30 second news report or 2 minute youtube video, and the damage is not readily apparent. One might need to actually read something and try to understand.

It's clear that Hillary and her team didn't want to have to deal with the hassle that such restrictions place on doing one's job when dealing with classified material ("What? I have to go over there and read it and communicate on that computer system? In a secure facility? Do you know who I am?!?!?"). They knew better so they proactively skirted the system, which is a real affront to those working in the intelligence services, especially on the front line with human or technology assets. This doesn't even address the cost involved in folding expensive compromised systems and developing new ones.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

This just gets better and better - how do take a cell phone into a SCIF and "accidently" take pictures of whats up on a SIPR or JWICS terminal. For those that don't know, one CAN NOT take a cell phone into a SCIF. If you are found out, you have a whole lot of 'splaining to do with people you'd rather not be talking to, also since Mr. Snowden, you'll propably lose your SCIF access and maybe your job.

As our SCIF manager says, don't have any pics on your cell phone you wouldn't show your mother It has happened more than once in the SCIF I work in.

All I know is that if 1/3 of what they say is on Hillary's computers is true, and I'd been involved, I would certainly be looking for a job and probably awaiting inditement

I may be small, but I'm slow.

A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to, "The United States of America ", for an amount of "up to and including my life - it's an honor."

That will only work until a few weeks into the job Trump gives a speech to announce that our republic is now going to be "Reorganized" into the first American Empire!!!!

Seriously though, I have even less trust in Trump following the Constitution in anything he does than I do Obama. And that says a lot.

He is on the record for criticizing Obama's use of executive orders to go around Congress while in a different discussion talking about how he would use executive orders so he doesn't have to bother with Congress. I am actually concerned that with a trump presidency we wouldn't be too many steps away from a actual dictatorship and not just a strong president who tries to sneak a few things through around Congress.

                            • I laughed at Tim Allen's response to a question about why his show, Last Man Standing, doesn't go after Trump, but goes after Clinton:

Why has the show gone after Hillary but not Trump?

It's a little surprising to me. We have a very liberal writing staff, so I'm surprised they haven't taken a shot at him. But we're not sure he's going to last, whereas the Clintons are like herpes: Just when you think they're gone, they show up again.

                              • Everytime I see Megyn Kelly I think of that poster, "No matter how gorgeous someone is, there's a guy somewhere tired of putting up with her shit". She just seems like she would be a truly terrible person to be around.
