Not confirming Garland is going to be a black eye on the GOP for some time.

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Everyone knows leaving a SC seat empty is not going to happen. It's all bluster by Turkey Neck to pander to the dumber portion of their base.

If Hillary wins, but not so resoundingly that she'll claim a false mandate, and the Republicans retain slim margins in both houses (and Paul Ryan beats back the crazies in any leadership challenge), the election overall will have gone much better than I ever thought possible 6 months ago.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

Crossing my fingers that the GOP hangs on to the Senate and maybe expand in two years to battle wicked Hillary for the two remaining years of her term. Are you in Congressional NY 3, 19 or 22? Those are battleground districts. My wife is NY 23 where surprisingly the GOP candidate is slightly favored.

          • One reason I'm excited for the election to be over is so that SNL can cancel those awful Alec Baldwin Trump impressions. They should have contracted with Darrell Hammond, not Baldwin.

              Totally agree.

                  • When it comes to Hillary, I keep hearing (from the Republican folks around me) how for them one of the bigger issues with her regarding trust is the corruption angle. And, in particular, the idea of selling access to the State Dept via donations to her foundation with people buying and her selling favors.

Yet when Utah's Governor Herbert (R, of course) is recorded describing himself as "available Jones", telling lobbyists that he is leaving the running of the state to his admin team and he is available to meet with ANYONE who donates enough to his campaign - it's no big deal and hasn't been mentioned since the week that the recording came out.

I'm not sure I can so easily dismiss these two situations as being any different from each other.

What do ya'll think? Is this simply a case of only being wrong when the other side is doing it?

Or is it simply a case of no one gives a shit about Utah?

I used to have so much respect for you, Frank.

I'm not necessarily campaigning for Hammond to take over, but for the love of Mike, Baldwin has got to go.

NY 13. Charlie Rangel's seat (he is retiring). Went for Obama with 95% and 93% of the vote in the two elections. Rangel won reelection a few years back with 80% of the vote while under charges from the House Ethics Committee of 13 counts of house rules and federal laws violations. Yeah, I think it's safe to say NY 13 is a likely D seat.

It doesn't make it right but it sounds like typical political behavior. The narrative that Hillary is unparalleled, in terms of corruption, is pretty inaccurate. I don't particularly like Hillary but I've seen nothing that makes me think she is Nixon.

Not even the Utahans, apparently. (which was kind of the point)

Yeah - there is always the implied "look who is donating to who's campaign". But, as far as I know, they don't often come right out and say "Hey! I'm selling access to the Governor's office here! I'm in an election, need some cash, and if you pay enough I'll listen to anything you have to say!!!"
