I familiar with the Pentagon Papers stuff. At least Ellsberg stood trial and didn't run away. I think it would have been one thing for Snowden to whistle blow on the mass surveillance of American and stop at that but Snowden went way further. He released countless pieces of information that damaged our standing in the world, legitimate intelligence operations. So, yeah, I'm no Snowden fan.

I should have known you would be up to date on your history.Originally posted by frank ryan View PostI familiar with the Pentagon Papers stuff. At least Ellsberg stood trial and didn't run away. Ellsburg stole the papers and a lot of progessives and the press seem to think it was OK because the information he got was important. He did man up and stand trial.
I guess it could be a case by case basis. Is the information important enough to negate the act of theft?
I hear in the press a downplay of the stolen e-mails because they were stolen and attached to Russia. At the same time no such condemnation of the Trump stolen tax returns.
Like I said, at least you are consistent.

Stealing Trumps tax returns and publishing them is just fine because it wasn't against Clinton and it wasn't done by the Russians and distributed by Assange. Just ask the NYTimes and all the democratic politicians (Clinton included) that are using it against Trump. But stealing emails that (most) should have been a matter of public record anyway is bad!!Originally posted by byu71 View PostI should have known you would be up to date on your history.

Unlike you, I was never worried about Trump winning the general election. I don't care who you vote for. In fact, I'm debating voting for Clinton given that she's closed the gap in Texas. My dream scenario out of this cluster is that Clinton wins Texas and Evan wins Utah.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostIf you and Moliere work a little harder you might be able to swing me to Trump. Another article about McMullin:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...her-candidate/
This is amazing. Less than 50% of LDS now identify as republican:
Amen to this:Mormons, who make up 1.6 percent of the U.S. population, account for about 60 percent in Utah. When Mitt Romney, a Mormon, was running for president in 2012, more than 60 percent of LDS members identified as Republicans; now 48 percent say the same, according to a Pew Research Center survey.
And although McMullin, whose mother is now married to a woman, personally defines marriage as between a man and a woman, he has said he believes that the Supreme Court’s ruling on same-sex marriage means conservatives should move on from the issue. During his campaign, McMullin has also focused on poverty, criminal justice reform, slavery and sex trafficking and racial reconciliation."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? And ABC's Night Line visits Utah to check out Evan McMullin:
