What does Trump actually know about conservatives? He seems to only know five things, which he repeats in such crude ways it's preposterously insulting. Apparently we "love Jesus," so he says he does too. He knows we love guns, so he's so in love with the Second Amendment he wants to make out with it.

Does he ever explain the underpinnings of his belief in the Second Amendment, such that you get the impression if he's challenged on it, he can break out chapter and verse on the amendment like Reagan would have and remained resolute in his position?

He senses we don't like Mexicans or Muslims very much, so he wants to ban rapists and terrorists.

He knows we love babies and hate abortions, so he's reversed himself from being "very, very pro-choice" and even supporting partial birth abortion to being so against abortion you couldn't believe it. (But he'll keep on funding Planned Parenthood because they're a wonderful organization.)

He knows we love the military, so he proclaims himself, seriously, the most "militaristic" guy you've ever met. Then sometimes he talks about "bombing the crap" out of people to appease the hawks, and other times about a Ron Paul style isolationism, to appease his substantial Paulite wing

        • I think it's safe to say we've reached the 'kitchen sink' phase of the republican race. Rubio is mocking Trump's spelling, questioning his manhood, and implying he pissed his pants during the debate. Cruz musing that the reason why Trump won't release his tax returns is because of ties to the mafia. Multiple tweets about how Trump admires communist China and he refuses to denounce the KKK.

Congratulations Rubio, you've now become a younger Trump. Your one long shot at the nomination was to rise above the fray with your optimistic vision of America. Now you're Trump lite. Idiot voters know the difference.

Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

Nah. I see it as a bit of Tit-for-tat. Rubio has a senatorial record to run on, too, but he was tanking with Trump sucking all the oxygen out of the room.

                • There have been lots of candidates for President in my lifetime (I was born at the end of the Truman administration) whose policies and policies I haven't supported, but I can't think of any candidate from either party who would have been more embarrassing to have represent me and my country than Donald Trump. Taking the two current candidates I'd find most objectionable (other than the Donald, who holds an insurmountable lead in this category), Sanders and Cruz, at least they seem to have genuine convictions and have some degree of civility and integrity. They also don't have hundreds of quotes to their credit that are offensive to women, minorities, and common sense.

Trump personifies the worst of American stereotypes (loud, materialistic, self-aggrandizing). He tries to convey the image of class, kind of like Charlie the Tuna (sorry for the archaic reference), but he seems tawdry and cheap at his core. By far his greatest skill is self-promotion. Lucky for him, I guess, he has always had a young, beautiful wife, and probably always will. Sorry, just had to vent as I continue to be amazed that Trump has millions of people in his thrall.

                      • I agree with pretty much everything anti-Trump. I'll even go a step further than I ever have and say that he's just as bad as Hillary. Still don't think he's worse, though. Here's a good list of echo chamber articles I read today that reinforced my view of Trump and his campaign to destroy the soul of America. I don't read Stormfront or any AltRight websites so I can't really provide any counter views.

                        • mrs. myboynoah thinks that Trump is America's just rewards for its 20+ year obsession with reality TV.

By bringing up reports of Trump's father being arrested at a Klan rally a 100 years ago, I think those articles go into overkill and allow Trump supporters to claim some kind of moral victory. There is enough out there to discredit Trump. Why go too far by feeding Trump supporters "lamestream" media red meat?

I'm just going to write in Mitt.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

                            • Sad, so very sad. This thing looks like it is coming down to Trump vs Hillary. Looks like I will be doing a no vote for President. Of course if I thought my vote could sway things, I would choose one of the lesser of two very flawed and terrible choices.

Now that the majority of the press seems to accept Donald's candidacy they are starting to scrutinize him more and more and stop the celebrity treatment. They should have been doing this long ago. This joke and embarassment going on in the republican primary they are calling it now is to a large extent their fault. Yes, I do put the majority of the press in the same grouping with the Trumps and Hillary's of the world.
