It looks like Hillary will beat Sanders by around 5 points in Nevada. I'm not sure how indicative Nevada is of other states, I suppose it's similar to Arizona and New Mexico as far as Democratic primary voters.

California has more white urban liberals, but Hillary probably has an advantage there as well.

Umm, Hillary has this thing won and it's not even close. The second she took Iowa, her chances of winning the nomination went from 95% certain to 100% certain. Bernie will get slaughtered in most larger states not adjacent to Vermont, especially in the South.

Looks like it'll be a 3-man race heading into Super Tuesday. I'm not saying the others will officially drop out, but they are done. Jeb may stay in until then out of spite. I like Kasich but think he'll drop out after tonight. Carson is weird....maybe he'll never drop out but just fade into the distance.

Trump is an enigma. He won handily in NH, whcih is arguably more moderate. He won handily in South Carolina, which has a lot of evangelicals. He's already killing it in Nevada. It's just fascinating that such polarizing figure, and a racist/xenophobic one at that can do so well. Makes me wonder if all that anti-establishment stuff that hte Tea Party espoused is finally coming home to roost.

If there is one edifying thing about the GOP race it's that Cruz is losing to Trump. All the Cruz fanatics are blisteringly upset at the Trump support. It's fun to watch play out, especially in the heart of Cruz country.

I doubt Kasich is jumping ship yet. He wasn't expecting to do very well in SC (though he probably was hoping for better than the 7.9% of the vote that is currently being reported). If he's got enough cash, he'll stay in until at least Michigan/Ohio.

I think you can blame conservative talk shows and Fox News for the emergence of Trump. Although I don't listen, the headlines I always hear from the loudest, brashest voices are that the GOP has sold out on immigration. Then you have the distrust of media. The liberal bias of mainstream media is such a cornerstone of conservative political thought that it's not even questioned anymore. It is Fox News's raison d'être, and they give airtime to brash personalities that talk about immigration. All the time.

The radio hosts have railed on the GOP for years, and because the voters have been told the GOP needs to quit acquiescing to the democrats they look to someone who will stop negotiating. So Trump comes along and correctly reads the prevailing opinion of the conservative base. And what does the most hardline conservative voters want their leader to control? What they've been told is the most pressing problem of our generation; immigration. And guess what Trump says in his speech after the SC win; the ridiculous assertion that Mexico will pay for half the border wall.

I'm not sure if I'm saying it the right way, but I'm not as mad/dismayed at Trump as I used to be. My anger is directed more towards the republican party. Trump is simply giving what the brashest conservatives want. Don't blame him. Blame what the GOP has become.

If I add these poll numbers (BYU) correctly, democrats 37%, conservatives 39%. Perhaps ecclesiastical endorsements are being given too easily.

Being one who always looks for the positive, perhaps the PAC 10 will see this and give us another look.

Glenn Beck calls for a fast to help Ted Cruz, and further beclowns himself:

This week Beck also expressed his belief that God allowed Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia to die in order to “wake America up to how close we are to the loss of our freedom” and to the necessity of electing Cruz to name Scalia’s replacement.

Beck also stated that “if the country is lost, it will be lost because of the Christians” who did not support Cruz.

“There will be no one else to blame,” he added. “You can’t blame the progressives. You can’t blame the left. You can’t blame Hillary Clinton. You can’t blame anyone else but the Christians who are not living and voting their principles.”
