  • I'd take Biden in a heartbeat over any of the four front runners from both sides. I'd have to think hard between Rubio and Biden. This slate is the absolute worst.

      • People I would take over any of the top 4:

        Mitt
        Biden
        McCain
        Newt
        Giuliani
        Bill Richardson

Obviously not an exhaustive list. Some of these I really don't like, but I would take them all in a second over any of the four.

I disagree. The biggest problem is the system. Our votes don't count. Delegates pick the president. If it was one-person one-vote then things would change. The current voting laws keep those in power--- in power. How do we get those in power to change the laws to make is easier for them to lose their jobs?

I am not sure the poll numbers support your assertion. Moreover, delegates is us, too.

            • I don't think every day joes have much say on who can and can't enter the primary. The GOP and the DNC are just inept(as far as picking, you know, competent candidates). They are the puppet masters and the ones who decide whose turn it is. In fact, Romney was ruled out a year or two ago when Jeb rolled into Park City and they all made it crystal clear on Jeb's private plane that Jeb would get the nod without interference from Mitt and company. Why? Because it's his turn- that's why- too bad his overly funded campaign is such a mess. And of course it's Hilary's turn. Of course it is. The Obama Machine was the only thing that has been holding her (and everyone else for that matter) back.

              • The rumor is that Kasich is doing well and will probably place second and could come very close to Trump. If Rubio then comes in 3rd, he's still relevant and can stay in. But a fourth place finish by Bush should be enough of a message for him to get out.

The best case, realistic scenario is Trump narrowly beats Katich, Rubio is only a couple points behind Kasich and Cruz comes in 4th. You'd figure a fifth place finish in NH would provide enough concrete proof to Bush that he doesn't have a path to the nomination. Kasich won't do well in South Carolina, but without Christie and Bush in the mix, Rubio may be able to pull off a win in South Carolina.

All that said, the rumors do not indicate that Rubio is doing particularly well in NH. If the unthinkable happens and Kasich beats Trump in NH, it could mean that Trump is in trouble heading in South Carolina.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

                • CMBF posts are the best when it's election season. I remember him talking about the skewed polling back in 2012 and how Mitt had a chance even when everything said he had no chance. Funny thing is, I still read every word of his posts and find myself having hope.

I like this game. Let's keep naming candidates we would vote for over the current top four. I agree with all yours and would add:

                    Paul Ryan
                    Jim Webb
                    Bloomberg
                    Shaquille O'neal
                    Peyton Manning
The Rent is Too High guy
A random homeless guy sitting in Penn Station when I catch the 3:30 am Amtrak
                    A sack of old hammers

Heck, I'd vote for Richard Nixon over Hillary.

Wishful thinking gets in the way of predictions, look at everyone's predictions against Utah in football.

The only guy I'm really against in the GOP primary is Bush. I still view Trump as an oddity and kind of entertaining, but reality will set in in South Carolina. Bush and Christie and dicked around this week and made things easier for Trump and Cruz. I'm sure that Christie will be taken out by the end of the night and I'm hopeful Bush gets a fifth place finish.

If Bush takes himself out after tonight, then Kasich has a slight chance if this thing turns into a brokered convention (which would mean that Rubio places badly tonight and comes in third in South Carolina). Rubio could still win the nomination outright if Bush gets out tonight and Rubio wins South Carolina.

Bill Richardson is still around??? Whatever, I agree. I would vote and your others before the current clowns.

                              I would add:

Bush is in until Super Tuesday. I've heard that he still has loads of money, so he can make it until then even if his funding drops off.
