A much better example of a political loser turned winner than Reagan is Nixon (although he ultimately was a loser). Lost the presidential election in '60 and the California Governor election in '62 then returned to win two presidential elections.
I think I will pay a lot less attention this cycle. The die is cast so why get worked up?Comment

But Nixon was a winner (2 terms in the house and one as a Senator, IIRC) before he was a loser, before he was back a winner, and then a loser. One can argue that Nixon was ultimately a winner but the stigma of Watergate cannot be overcome by many. Also, your a couple of years ahead-Nixon lost in 1960 and 1962. Otherwise, Nixon is a good comparision. Also, if the later part of the 1800's are in play (see, William Jennings Brian), Abraham Lincoln is another example. Lost a bid for the state legislature, a bid to become the speaker of the state legislature after finally winning a bit to be a state legislator, a failed bid to become an elector, lost a bid to be a Congressman before winning and then ultimately failing to be reelected, and then lost twice while running for a Senate seat.
